I stumbled onto about 6 or 7 large human-like footprints.

A listener writes “When I was a kid growing up in rural Kansas. I lived in a small rural community outside of emporia..near the cottonwood river. When I was about 10 or 11 my friend’s step dad took us to a section of the cottonwood that we all called “the bayou.” It was a low-lying soy bean field about a 1/4 mile from the river. Whenever it would rain heavy enough to flood the river would overflow its banks and cover the soy bean field. After the water receded, there was always a large “pond” left in the north-east corner of the field.

It usually took several dry weeks for this water to evaporate. Because of that, we coined that area as “the bayou”. One afternoon my friends step dad picked us up and said he was going to the bayou to see if he could see any cougar tracks. (Back then there was a lot at talk of cougar sightings in the area). I remember when we pulled up and got out of the truck I could see that the recent floods had receded. We walked around looking for cougar tracks but never saw any.

There were 100’s of dead fish skeletons lying on the ground..mostly carp and drum as I recall. From what I could gather it looked like they came in with the flood water and then died as the water dried up. We walked around for a few minutes and then I stumbled onto about 6 or 7 large human-like footprints. They were much like what a human print would look like but much bigger.

The thing I remember the most was the size of the big toe. It was about the size of my fist at the time (maybe 3 ” wide by 4″ long). My friend and I looked at them and got really excited, thinking that it must have been from a Bigfoot. We told his step dad and he came and looked at them. He thought they were interesting but didn’t really seem to be as interested as we were.

They had to have been over about 15″ long, or more. As I thought about it later I recalled that they were near what would have been (at the time of the flood) the edge of the water. There were only about a half dozen prints in all.

I speculate that perhaps the Bigfoot had been grabbing the fish that remained in the shallow water to eat them. The only prints that were visible at the time were the prints that were made outside of the edge of the water. By the time we got there the water was really dry. The soil was bone-dry.

Anyway, I know that’s probably not as spine-tingling as some of the stories you’ve heard but I thought it was pretty interesting. My questions to you are: Have you heard of any stories in your studies concerning what it is that these things eat? Do you think it’s plausible that these creatures would take advantage of some easy fishing? And lastly, are you aware of any sightings in Kansas?”

Check out encounters in Florida – Mark Zarsky’s crypto reality on you tube. Lots of encounters about Bigfoot fishing in a stream somewhere, mussels and fish/walrus in Alaska, Mississippi, – just lots of people have seen them while fishing or their prints around streams, rivers even stock tanks. Can’t think of specific sightings in Kansas, but yes, there are some and one is famous there – and this recent one – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTfbl7mbidY

~ What do they Eat? Everything, probably. No Knobby did not give BF a fish, he said, he kinda regretted not sharing one, later on. 🙂 Crawfish, alligator, fish, shrimp, weasels, coons, opossum, corn, peas, beans, potatoes, apples, pears, plums, oranges, walnuts, clams, elk, deer, anything they want, probably!

Of reports I have seen, I remember one of a woman out jogging or something, seeing a BF evidently looking for food in the river; BF reportedly depend on salmon runs, like bears do; one of a guy in a boat who saw one swimming in a river; another off British Colombia somewhere, also swimming, to or from an island to the mainland; one witness saw a whole family of BF swimming across a lake; multiple instances of BF harassing people fishing at lakes, which may or may not indicate a desire to get ahold of their fish, or to do some fishing themselves; there’s the fact that they’re very often found around water and that even cold water seems not to bother them…. I’d say they’re fishermen enough to be apostles!

What number podcast was Knobby’s encounter, again? Anyone know that?
