I finally got a glimpse of the creature

A listener writes “Hey Wes it’s Trey. First off I wanna say I’m 99% sure I finally got a glimpse of the big guy. All my work going out may have paid off.

If you’ll remember a year or so ago I got a report about he booger drinking out of the stream with one hand and had questions about it. Well I went back to this area to check on my fliers I had put up but I’ll get back to that in a minute. I was on the road side of the creek. Across the creek I hear branches snapping and faint footsteps even over the rushing water.

This is a stream that people kayak down so there are some rapids but nothing too major. I hear the snapping and look up in the direction it’s coming from and see reddish brown hair on a leg. My mind started racing and next I saw an arm go out and grab a branch as if it were pulling itself up the mountain while walking.

Now I say 99% sure because all I was able to see was a leg ( from the thigh to right above where the ankle should be) not a full silhouette. Without thinking and probably pretty stupid on my part, having waders on I quickly jumped in the stream and headed across.

The current wasn’t too bad but the water was just high enough in some places to fill my knee high waders with water. No matter I couldn’t stop myself from going across. I get to the other side and look up. At this point I don’t hear or see or smell anything and this part of the mountain is almost vertical. I start trying my best to make my way up it but after about 15-20 ft I was basically laying down trying to crawl up the mountain side. Even though I was armed it was just a 9mm and here I am laying down trying to crawl up a mountain. So I stopped and laid there for maybe 10 minutes looking and listening for any movement and couldn’t hear or see anything.

I decided to go back down to where It came from to try and find some tracks but couldn’t find any at all not even possible tracks. Very heart racing. Now throughout this national forest I’ve put up fliers with a website for people to contact me if they see one of these creatures. I know the ones up in the smokies have all been burnt when the forest fires came through. But on this side of the mountains the fire didn’t reach it so I hiked back to where I had put some to check them out.

They had all been taken down. Not blown down but taken down, nails and all. I can understand maybe the little general store taking it off the community bulletin board but most of these were deep in on some trails while others were off trail deep in the bush.”

        Monroe or I may have crossed the county line in the woods. Did an interview with Wes and you’ll prolly know where I’m talking about. And sorry to bust your bubble Michael but I was pretty dumb in pursuing just acted on instinct. Curiosity took over but then again curiosity killed th cat. I did have 17 hollow points and a can of bear mace though lol. Not that it would have done any good

    Really cool encounter! I can imagine the big fella knew you wanted a peek and wanted nothin to do with it! Im still putting in time to try and see one during the day, while on foot. And very very strange about the fliers!

      Thanks man but I must reiterate, do not do what I did lol. I make that clear in my interview. Acting out of instinct I put myself in a dangerous situation even when I was armed. I just couldn’t help myself. I’ve never seen one of the creatures close up and I let my emotions take over. Even armed I was a I could have been a missing person if things went bad
