My first encounter with what I could say was a sasquatch was in 2011 when I was about 12-13 years old to my best guess. I was at a campground south of Fredericksburg, VA.
The campground is just over 800 acres of woods and what I can best describe as a giant trailer park that’s spread out into glens. I was sitting along this trail that cut back into the woods by the river where we would go to fish or ride dirt bikes along the trail.
I was sitting in my golf cart talking to my friends on the phone who were at their house an hour and a half south on my buddy’s farm. We were sitting there messing around asking each other if we could hear each other holler back and forth.
Not many people were down the campground at this time because it was the end of summer and most only came down for holidays. As we exchanged hollers back and forth over the phone I hoped for the last time and I heard an immediate long whoop that I felt hit me like a ton of bricks. I looked all around me in a panic to see where it came from because it felt so close and loud. I looked across the river and on the other side was a clearing about 35-40 yards from me and saw a large black mass tucked behind of the trees. Everything was still green at this point. I only heard it whoop 1 time because I immediately put my golf cart in reverse and gunned it out of the trail and drove off back to my camper. Thinking back I was so scared and I had this feeling that whatever I was looking at I shouldn’t be.
I felt like a kid looking at something I shouldn’t have. I only glanced at the black shape and immediately left the area. we rarely ever went over the other side of the river because there was a legend that if you went over there you would have things thrown at you and we always blamed it on Native American ghosts because there was a lot of burial grounds in that campground and surrounding area.
In the same campground a few years later my buddy’s mom bought a new lot that was on the other side of the powerlines and near the edge of the campground where there was a huge wooded area outside the fence. From the start of us being there we had really weird encounters over there. We always saw this huge black shadowy thing walking through this area 60-70 yards from his porch that would push through this bamboo thicket.
One night we were driving down the dirt road and in front of us where the road curved what I thought at the time was black shadows about 4 ft tall darted across the road from a building that was on the right and ran towards these abandoned campers of the left in the trees. Me and my friend being mortified and screaming we drove as fast as we could to his camper to tell his mom who believed in ghosts and cryptids and she always tried to help us calm down when something unexplainable happened. If you would like I can explain things better in another email about his family and the area.
Next encounter in the campground it was the middle to late fall and I was probably 1 of maybe 20 people staying in the campground when we came down to clean things up before we winterized everything. I was walking to a friends lot that was a couple miles away from mine in the same glen as my friends camper. I walked over before sundown and hung out and had to walk home after dark because my dad didn’t answer to pick me up. There was always coyotes and occasionally black bear wandering through.
As soon as I walked across the dam road that entered that glen I immediately felt like something was pacing me in the tree line. I could hear coyotes off in the distance but whatever was pacing me only had to be 50-60 yards from me in the trees. I kept a good pace and just kept focusing on getting home. I was probably 16 years old at this point. I tried to keep myself calm by smoking a cigarette but I couldn’t get the fear out of my head that I was in grave danger. Whatever it was the coyotes didn’t want anything to do with it either because they always seemed like they were a 1/4 mile ahead of me. I was basically followed all the way back to my lot on the main road.
As soon as I got to the back road that went to my lot I full sprinted it because there was no lights or any chance of seeing people. I ran up to my camper got in and slammed the door behind me and didn’t dare leave till morning.”

(New Jersey) I can’t decide what’s harder to believe about this 12 year old : 1) he owns a phone 2) he owns a gold cart 3) he sees a Sasquatch

Glen K, 🙄. Just because something is hard for you to believe doesn’t make it right to try and discredit it or justify to yourself and others by adding negativity… The world doesn’t need more people trying to divide or shame each other, the world needs more enlightenment or understanding.
Allow me to shed some light on your comment for you and hopefully in the future you’ll be wiser before you let those fingers get all antsy dancy with your thoughts and try and put your own words in other peoples mouths… That is what’s known as a lie or at the very least it’s being very deceptive and misleading.
1. Why wouldn’t a family who goes camping or adventuring think it’s a good idea to give their child a phone as a precaution if they got separated or enjoyed different activities?
2. He didn’t say he “owned” the golf cart, he said “my golf cart”…which could imply the one he rented at the golf course or maybe it’s actually one his family own’s and keeps in a golf cart shed (as sometimes is the case). Maybe his family is wealthy and he actually does own a golf cart. Nevertheless he didn’t say he “owned” it.
3. He never said in all certainty that what he saw was in fact a Sasquatch. Only in the beginning did he say it could have been something like that, and from that point on described it in fact as seeing a black shadowy thing.
I want to thank Glen K for this comment as it is a good example of how one person can twist a narrative and cause ignorance/blindness to the truth by simply tweaking even just one word in someones story or misleading people with their own assumptions.
Praying for you Glen K 🌞🙏🏼❤️

I just can’t stand narcissism and gas lighting. I grew up with that put on me frequently, I see it from a mile away now… I could’ve let it defeat me, I could’ve adopted it into my own behavior… I chose neither.
Anyone can learn from the example of what Christ taught us… I use my pain and experience from it to help others when I see it… I call that evil s**t out now and dare it to stand in the light of truth, as should all of us. Amen
