A listener writes “Earlier today, I had an interaction with something I could not see, nor explain. I heard wood knocks a bit of the way into a trail, turned around, and reached a clearing I’d passed a few minutes before, and it was quiet then.
When I got halfway through the clearing, something in the forest was playing “music” on rocks, off about 50 feet to my left in a group of trees. When I tapped my knife on my tripod in response, it paused, mimicked my rhythm, then did its own thing again. When I started tapping along to my own kind of rhythm, it started clacking out a “harmony” of sorts to accompany my taps. After a few minutes of being weirded out, I decided to continue on my way back where I was going and listened to them fade out and then stop.
Once I reached the treeline on the other side of the clearing and began walking in, about 30-50 feet into the trees, I heard the clacking again, almost directly behind me, just off to the side where those other trees connected to this treeline. The sound didn’t sound like woodpeckers, and the speed was way off. I’m a photographer and had my camera with me, and managed to record a little bit of the clacking before I started tapping my tripod in response. The clacking directly behind me stopped as I continued on that trail, just before I started recording again.
The audio on my recording is fairly poor, since I only had my camera’s in built microphone attempting to record something quite a distance away.
