Squirrels can make lots of noise in the woods when gathering acorns before the acorns start dropping. They knock down twigs, leaf clusters while jumping from tree to tree. Been listening to them the past week or so. They are hilarious.

At one point I could hear a bird’s alarm call but nothing that sounded like a heavy creature.

If we could hear the earlier recordings, we would have something can compare it with. As it stands, I hear a knock and nothing else. Was the recorder in the tent? How close are the ground squirrel making the chatter? I’ve always been under the impression that all noises cease and deathly quite ensues.
