A bright fireball illuminated the dark sky over Alaska and was caught on camera in the south-central part of the state. Multiple home security cameras in the Anchorage and Wasilla areas captured video when the large meteor crossed the sky over the state about 5:47 a.m. Wednesday.
WGN News writes “People spotted a fireball dropping through the sky in Anchorage, Alaska, during the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 21, according to American Meteor Society (AMS) reports.
Footage posted by Brian Brettschneider on Wednesday captured a fireball glowing in Anchorage.
The Ursid meteor shower, which is visible in the northern hemisphere from December 13 to 24, peaks on December 22, the AMS said.”

I wonder what kind of sound it made as it crashed into the atmosphere and on into the ground? I mean I wonder if it was loud? They say the one that hit Russia what was it a few years ago, rattled and broke windows for miles!

I had the privaledge of seeing one heading north on the I-75 late at night just north of Sidney, OH a lot of years ago. It was immesurable bright like the sky was on fire and I figured it was at most a mile above me and probably much closer and would come crashing down not to far away to the east. The next day reading the news accounts I found out it was still outside of the Earth’s atmosphere and came down on the eastern side of Pennsylvania, I believe which would be close to 600 miles away.
