A listener writes “Mine happened on my farm and there were many mysterious happenings before my actual sighting. I will not go into detail about all the strange stuff like finding headless kangaroos, smelling foul smalls, hearing strange noises etc etc but it left me wondering.
I live in Australia in the state of New South Wales on the mid north coast just south of a country town called Kempsey at a location 25 km south known as Cooperabung. My farm is only 10 acres of which about 2 is cleared and the rest is forest. I live at the end of a dead end street and I am surrounded by 100 acres to the north that is a goat farm and 250 acres to my western boundary that agists cattle. Beyond these farms is wilderness and National Parks. These parcels of land are only partly cleared and they are mostly forested or what we call bush blocks. There are pockets of dense eucalypt forest and rainforest with small creeks, waterholes and earthen dams.
This creature was at least 7.5 feet tall and black as the night with incredibly bright yellow eye shine. When it took off it was unbelievably fast and unbelievably quiet. I was in shock as the biggest creatures in NSW are old man kangaroos. (We don’t have bears…..except koala bears). A big buck grey kangaroo will stand upright at just over 6 feet. They are light grey in colour and their eyes do not reflect light like that and when they take off they bound and you can hear them thumping off. Unless this was an Angus Black Bull standing upright on its back legs that had escaped from my neighbours farm I was at a loss to explain what I saw. When cattle are startled they stomp off and their hooves leave tracks. There was no sound made nor any tracks to be found.
This incident occurred at night around 12:30 am. My wife and I had just got back from in town and had turned off the lights and gone to bed. I was laying in bed for maybe 15 mins when my wife woke me up and asked me had I checked to see that the chickens had been locked up in the coop. We had been losing chickens so I got out of bed and grabbed a head torch to turn on once I got outside to walk the 10 metres down to the chook shed to see if the door had ben locked.
I slid the backdoor open and as I went to go down the stairs off the veranda I turned on the head lamp. Not 20 m in front of me where there are no trees were a pair of big glowing yellow eyes about 7 feet or more up in the air staring straight back at me. I could not see the outline of the body but whatever it was, stood still. The shitty little head lamp I had on was almost flat. I was frozen in amazement and watched these eyes look left, then right and then…poof they were gone. My ears strained to hear it taking off but there was nothing…no thudding sounds of a creature quickly running off. I was flabbergasted. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck.
Since that encounter I have been perplexed as to explain what I saw that night and also to explain the other strange things that I have come across since moving here in 1995. Being a Biology and Geology High School Science teacher for 40 years I was intrigued by what had occurred and could not logically explain what had happened. So I started researching on the internet and eventually I came upon your podcasts.”

Oh wow!

You went outside of what it had patterned, and the sneaky Yowie got caught out. Nice.

I would think this listener would also research The Yowie Hunters and Dean Harrison who he and his group have been at this for at least a couple of decades. It was May in 2021 when they got the fabulous thermal of two of them in Springbrook National Park, about 300 km north of your location.

My friend had a farm in Kempsey, spent some time there in the nineties. No sasquatch encounters thank goodness, but a beautiful place!
