I love older reports, this one is from 1975, Sedgwick County, Kansas. The witness writes “I had spent Saturday night at a friend’s house, and awoke at 6 a.m. Sunday morning.”
I decide to go hunting, so I asked my friend if he wanted to go. He said he did not. So I went to an area I knew. I was hunting rabbits along the dike on the east side of the witchita / Valley center flood control project. This is an area that my friemd and I had hunted at several times. This morning I was not having any luck. I notice that their were several doves, flying down to the course of the water flowing through the center of the “Ditch”. I decide to try my luck at some dove. I conceal myself in some tall brushes along the side of the water, on the East side. After about fifteen minutes, I started hearing water splashing to the South of me.
I leaned out to see the source. There I saw appr. 1/4 miles down stream, a creature. At first I thought it to be a dog getting a drink of water. As it was standing in the middle of the stream. But I soon realized that it was splashing the water with one of it front limbs. It suddenly raise to it hinded legs. And seemed to be looking around, and smelling the air. Even at this distance, and the foggy conditions. I could make out it general appearance. 5’7″ to 6’0″ covered with short, black , hair or fur. It’s coat was tight to it body. the head appear to be egg shaped. the ears close to the head. the body was fit, and preportional over all. It appeared to be humaniod.
After a few minutes, it resumed it splashing. By bending at the waist, and swiping with it right limb. I wanted a closer look, so I checked the wind and found I was down wind. I worked my way farth North in the hope I would not alert it. Crossed the stream and worked back a long the top of the cliff over looking the water. But by the time I got to the section above where it had been. It was gone.

I wonder why he waited over twenty years to fill out the report…

In reading hundreds of reports on BFRO, I’ve wondered the same thing. Some people report sightings almost immediately. I feel some people, and some have stated this, fear ridicule! I think its especially true of reports from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, etc. The witnesses not only fear ridicule, but back then there was no internet, and no sites like SC, or BFRO to make their reports public. Many have said they didn’t know WHO to reach out to, and then came across these websites online.

Yes, that does make sense. I am just glad that people are now coming out in greater numbers to inform us of what is really going on…

Me too. Hats off to Wes and company for providing such an excellent forum. It seems reports are coming in almost daily.!Sure, some may not be sincere, but in most cases I just can’t believe people have nothing better to do than to make these stories up! They really have nothing to gain. Wes makes it such a nonjudgmental, relaxed venue for people to discuss their experiences. I’ve been aware of the Bigfoot subject since the Patterson-Gimlin film came out. But for whatever reason, like many here, I became almost obsessed with the topic , about five years ago. Now, I can’t get enough!! I find it absolutely fascinating. Keep up the great work Wes !!

I came apon this fascination by chance when an older, retired farmer and close friend of the family confided in me when I asked questions about a fall from a tree stand years ago. Just as you said, Glen, he didn’t know WHO to tell nor did he feel a need to tell anyone outside of his immediate family (who believed him and still do to this day). I often find myself compelled to ask people from this generation if they have ever encountered anything of such nature. One gal I spoke to last week lived within a half mile of a farm where a female and juvenile were stumbled into back in the 70’s. Part of me is afraid to ask but I am certain she must have seen or heard something. Wes, I love these old reports, too. There is something of substance to them that I cannot identify that adds credence.

I pretty much do the same thing. I ask around and have heard a few this way. Back from years ago people really had no where to report them, except local authorities which went no where almost always. In this report this just may be a fishing method of the bigfoot. Slapping at a fish to stun it maybe. Gosh know they love fish

Dr A, Why be afraid to ask? I ask my friends and relatives what they think of the topic/and or if they or anyone they know has had an encounter. You’d be surprised that a lot of people Do find the subject interesting. I have a nephew I Love, but who loves to tease me about it! So be it. I have another nephew who lives in California, and is in the movie production business. I don’t see him often, but when I do, I encourage him to explore the subject and consider following up with people he knows in the business. In fact he does find the topic interesting. Again, so Great to have a forum like this, BFRO, etc where people can feel comfortable discussing their encounters. BTW, Aaron, you mention a farm near you that had an incident. If you don’t mind my asking, where do you live? If anyone cares, I live in New Jersey. In fact I’m curious as to where ALL Members of SC live. I wish Wes would put peoples home states under their names-if they don’t mind- so we could know where each other live. I think I’ll send him an email.

Yes, Sir, I live in central Ohio and grew up working on a dairy farm in Butler, Ohio. The siting I am referring to is BFRO report 1625 and there is a sketch of the female Sasquatch with a close up of the face rendered by the witness. There was never an official report made by the deceased friend of the family but I confirmed the encounter with one of the gentleman’s sons after his fathers passing.
This is what makes SC so amazing! It’s all about real people and very little about “experts”. The simple details given by wholesome folks has me completely fixated.
