Did Neandertals Bury Their Dead?

PBS Eons writes “If we can see ourselves in the way our ancient cousins dealt with death…what else could we have in common?” Dozens of buried Neandertal skeletons have been discovered in Eurasia, leading some scientists to deduce that, like us, Neandertals buried their dead.

Thank you, Wes. It’s hard to say but if the Neanderthal brains were large enough for complicated thought, and it looks like they were, then you would think they would have probably have had rules in the clan for survival . If they had rules for survival, then it’s not a stretch to think they would have rules for other things such as burials.

This should not be a surprise or unexpected. Chimps and elephants and magpies in the wild have been observed to not only bury their loved ones (although not as complex as humans( but also mourn over them. In the book “50 Years with Bigfoot” , Janice Carter stated that one offspring of Fox and Sheeba died either at birth or shortly there after. Sheeba wailed and mourned, then her and her mate Fox dug a very deep hole and buried the infant. Then for days she would bring food and such and lay it over the grave. Of course a popular theory of why we do not find Bigfoot bodies is that they bury their dead.
