Eric was kind of enough to share this encounter along with another one. I went ahead and posted his first encounter. I will be speaking with him this evening.
“Hello Wes my name is Eric I’ve been listening to your show for awhile and I have to say it’s been very educational and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it. I’m originally from a small town in the heart of the Adirondack mountains where I lived most of my life. The town is called Saranac lake, it’s about 10 miles from Lake placid where the Olympics were held in the 80s. But this town is surrounded by mountains it’s literally in a bowl with mountains 360 degrees all the way around. There are countless lakes and rivers and streams everywhere also. I’ve always been into bigfoot ever since I was a kid but never really figured they were in NY until I was about 10 or 11 and then my thoughts changed.
I’ve had one sighting and many other experiences that either I’ve had or family/friends have had. My first encounter like I said was when I was about 10 or 11 so year 2000 or 2001. My dad and I were driving back roads late at night because it was summer and that’s what we did to pass the time, I have always been a night owl. This particular night we were driving around a pond called moody pond and to the right was the pond and to the left was a well established hiking trail that went up Mt. Baker. When we rounded the corner we saw this creature that was about the size of a man but covered in black hair stand up from a crouching position next to the pond and take off in front of the car up the mountain. At first I thought it was just a person but the speed at which it crossed the road really freaked me out. It was so fast that I maybe saw it for 2 seconds and it was gone. I didn’t really notice any particular features aside from the fact that it ran kind of hunched over not like a person. Usually a person will run standing almost straight up but this seemed more like it didn’t know if it should run on 2 legs or 4.

I grew up in that region and had my encounter about 40-50 miles from there. Upstate NY is prime habitat for them. Most of the state is as he says, mountains, lakes and waterways everywhere. Not to mention the amount of agriculture and food sources. I totaled two cars in three years by hitting deer. They’re everywhere.

I’m very familiar with that area, I spent a lot of time in Tupper lake growing up, its about 15 miles away from Saranac. I’ve never experienced anything around there but always thought it would be prime area for bigfoot. There have been plenty of sightings in the Adirondacks
