RCMP said she fell 35 metres but witnesses say it was more like three metres. EMS responded to an area near Spray Lakes Road at around 12:30 p.m. for reports of an injured climber. Canmore RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a 911 call in the Grassi Lakes area after 12:40 p.m.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, EMS said. Police said she was climbing without safety gear or rope while witnesses said she was hiking.

The cause of her death is under investigation.

“…hit by a rock” leaves a lot open to question. Was it a rock that was falling from above her and hit her – freak accident – or was it a rock that was thrown – coming in on a trajectory? Why is the police report at variance with the eyewitness report? “Police said she was climbing without safety gear or rope while witnesses said she was hiking.”

I wonder if any of the witnesses actually saw what happened! or did they come along afterwards. I am not sure how accurate sasquatch are throwing rocks but this was bound to happen eventually.

I would think they are pretty accurate and the rock goes where they want it to go. Sometimes they want to warn intruders away and may not be trying to kill them.

I had a Booger at Cosby Tenn. put a few golf ball sized rocks about two feet from me while hiking one morning. I would say accurate as they want to be.

Pebbles up to boulders and logs. The Squatch has the strength to throw a heavy object easily a rock big enough to knock you off a trail if not kill you outright. As to accuracy, I have reports of a sidearm motion….probably works better with their heavier muscles and overall structure. Who knows these cases always seem to get swept under the rug….eg. the kid who was found after 3 days in good condition in a thicket next to the house……and his friend the “bear” kept him warm yeah right. Not a peep since.

This is a high siting area. It’s 10 minutes from a place called ‘Dead Man’s Flats’ and that place has conflicting stories of why it’s called that. One historical account says they found a group of dead men, all mysteriously killed. The natives knew about it and would never go into that area. It’s also near a place called ‘Devil’s Head’ Another strange place with strange historical accounts. Grassi Lakes Alberta is a very popular place for hiking and climbing. This area is in a provincial park. Another park with strange incidents like David Paulide’s work informs. There definitely was conflicting stories on how this woman died and they have not released her name because of ongoing investigation. One witness said he saw her walking on the trail with no climbing apparatus but just walking. Many people walk on this trail with no equipment because it’s a scenic walk. He said he was hiding beneath a rock wall to avoid falling rock because of high wind gusts that day and then he heard a loud thud and then another but she wasn’t walking on a higher trail, just a low normal walk trail. The thing is so far no one has seen her actually get hit. This area however does get many falling rocks. It’s also near a place called ‘Lake Minnewanka’, the natives won’t go near that place and there have been many sitings and high strangeness there. I was picnicking in that on a summer day with other people around. I had a strong feeling of being watched and felt danger. I thought it was strange, I didn’t know sasquatch existed back then. I felt so uncomfortable that I just told everyone to eat and get out of there. There was a woman killed that day in the exact same area. They said is was a grizzly. There are many grizzlies in this area, Maybe that’s all it was but then other people go missing here. There are many stories in the news of missing or people found dead in this park. I have images of strange grey orbs floating over Lake Minnewanka. Over the many years I have never felt comfortable there, no matter how many people were around. Back then I knew nothing of the strangeness existing in this world.

Scott – My mom lives in Turner Valley. Each time I visit we go for drives up Kananaskis, etc. Knowing what I have experienced here in Tennessee and what I have ‘felt’ on drives and walks in Alberta and BC things will be very different for me on my next visit. Have you heard about anything over her way?

A lot of contradictory information there. How can anyone decide what actually happened with so many different reports? Hiking or climbing? There is quite a difference! I guess it would be easy enough to cover up something that should not have happened by saying that she was climbing although it is highly unlikely that she was climbing on a trail.

Thanks Scott A your comment was very insightful and helpful! I too was very confused by this article with the obvious conflicts. The biggest question I have is how did they know she was hit by a rock? I am assuming she died of blunt force trauma so how would they know she was hit by a rock without a witness. Unless of course there was a large rock on top of her body when she was found. Way to many unanswered questions.

Justin Smith S – Don’t be a jackass! I know there are members here that are “Typical Pigs” and I can tell you who I think is talking out of their “Arse”!

This is kind of scary and suspicious at the same time. It is possible that a rock fell and took out this woman but the conflict in the account of her actual activity, climbing or hiking seems like someone is in a rush to explain so no more questions are asked. I read a story in Outside magazine about a climber who died by being hit by a rock in the head. It was a horrific account and all around tragedy for all involved. Here’s a link if anyone is interested.

We had story I was following here in Wisconsin very near to me where a guy went missing and was found in a cornfield. Over the days the response and the stories regarding this persons death seemed to change and since I am aware of Sasquatch I had a little bit of a different perspective of what may have happened. The early accounts said a man walking his dog found this missing individual and that he was missing a shoe and had his shirt pulled up over his head. His wallet was found nearby with money in it and he had, I think it was a broken nose and some signs of animal predator wounds. What I found interesting was that the guy that found this person made the comment to the effect that he was traumatized by what he found. Okay, given it I am sure it is traumatizing to find a dead person but I sensed that this guy was really bothered by something he saw. Then right after they find the body of this person, they have this all out agency wide hunt by getting a search warrant and everything to search the field where this man was found. Then they say it is an obvious homicide. No word for weeks on what they found, nothing. Then about 2 to 3 weeks after the story, they say the man died of accidental causes due to alcohol. When I first read this story, I looked this location up on google maps and found that from these corn fields it is very easy to access a creek, stream water system and to then head out to swampy water areas not to far from where I live. I have seen signs of Sasquatch in areas around me. Something about this story really struck a cord with my 6th sense so I had this weird paranormal vibe about it. What is interesting is about 1 week or several days after reading this initial story about this man being found, I woke up one morning out of a dead sleep early in the morning to hear what sounded like that long siren type howl that Sasquatch makes that sounds like a siren. I’ve heard it before in another part of Wisconsin. When I heard it, I thought it was the monthly tornado siren test which happens of the 1st Wednesday of each month but it was Tuesday when I heard it. The tornado test siren happened the next day. From a lot of encounters Sasquatch and paranormal alike, there seems to be some correlation with Rock quarries and there is one about 1/2 a mile from where I live. What I also found interesting is that after they found this guy, canvassed that area heavily and I heard that Sasquatch siren sound, I noticed that these heavily wooded trails around me suddenly were being gutted of trees in a matter of days. It could all be a coincidence but, it just feels like a lot of dots were connecting for me. I personally have experience with beings that visit and some other insights that give me a different perspective and incredible sensitivity to many things unexplained and this is the standpoint of my observations on the finding of this missing guy. Not too far from here, a few years ago, a horse was found with it throat ripped out and no explanation was given about that. The DNR denies we have cougars in our area so…hmm. For several years, I have heard an owl outside my apartment but in these several years have never seen this own despite looking for it. The area where I have seen evidence of Sasquatch, the quarry, the area where they found the horse, and where they found this guy are probably 15 miles apart and if you took that through the creeks, woods and swamp probably much closer. Just some coincidences I noticed and I live in the city. :-0
