Late one evening three teams met by a powerline cut. After discussing a game plan, one team walked off down the powerline cut, another team took a jeep down the main trail, while my team stayed at the powerline cut and began therming. My team had three thermals with us. After a while, Jim who was sitting to my left states rather calmly, “I think I have something here.” So I looked over his shoulder at his iPad and my heart immediately began to race! So I hit record on my thermal and the excitement began! We filmed “this creature” for almost 20 mins! TJ joined us with his thermal as well. So all three of us were filming it! At one point I mentioned, “It looks like it’s eating berries!” Another time, I complained, “I can smell it!” I believe someone dr said, “It looks like it’s waving its hand?” The intensity was building dramatically, so we radioed the other teams, “Come quick! We’ve got one on therm!!!!” At which point, the other teams raced to our position! Then “the creature” turned and began to hobble, bent-over out of the treeline, so of course I took a nervous step backwards and whispered, “It’s coming towards us.”
Jeff had unintentionally separated from our group without us knowing which was against protocol, but we forgave him. He snuck away from our group and stood on the main trail, so there were trees and brush between us. Lost in this story was the fact that Jeff had been watching “another” possibly real Bigfoot! He said after the team in the jeep drove up the trail, he saw an upright shadowy figure walk between two trees on the horizon! It did it twice! So, Jeff remained quiet because he thought we were watching the same thing, when in fact, we were watching Jeff! By the way, Jeff has a bum knee, so he walked a little slow and bent over. Another BTW, there’s a fireworks factory nearby, and I actually smelled sulphur coming up the powerline cut, not a supposed smelly Bigfoot!”

But, as a humorous thing, it is great. Fair play to them for being stand up guys, and admitting the error. But, ya know, I can’t say I wouldn’t have made the same mistake in that situation. Hope you are doing well Wes! Thanks.
