Willow Creek, California, has a history deeply intertwined with its natural surroundings, from its origins as a seasonal Mono settlement to its role in the logging and agricultural industries. Originally named China Flat due to the presence of Chinese laborers, it later became known as Willow Creek in honor of the pack train drivers who relied on the creek’s willows for navigation.
The area is also famously associated with Bigfoot, with the Patterson-Gimlin film of 1967 filmed near Bluff Creek in Willow Creek.
