Albert Ostman Preview

Albert Ostman (died 1975) was a Canadian prospector who reported that he was abducted by a Sasquatch and held captive for six days. He stated that the event took place near Toba Inlet, British Columbia in 1924. On August 20, 1957, police magistrate A.M. Naismith wrote an affidavit which states “…I found Mr. Ostman to be a man of sixty-four years of age; in full possession of his mental faculties. Of pleasant manner and with a good sense of humor. I questioned Mr. Ostman thoroughly in reference to the story given by Mr. Green. I cross-examined him and used every means to endeavor to find a flaw in either his personality or his story, but could find neither…”Albert Ostman also signed a Solemn Declaration indicating that his account of the Sasquatch story was true under oath and by virtue of the Canadian Evidence Act.

The account of the juveniles doing that odd game of seeing how far they could launch themselves using only there buttocks sealed the deal for me. I’m not sure if the original script has been reposted, but that was just too crazy for someone to make up.

That seems to be the major hang up on my beliefs of this story. I’ve read it several times in several books, and I’ve read where he gives the beast some chew snuff, ” as he says to escape”. And I’ve also read where he makes some coffee, and the creature wanted what he had, to the creature took the coffee pot and drank it, grounds and all, and that’s how Albert made his escape. Dig deep on this one Wes, because it’s going to be interesting. I’ll see this weekend if I can find the books I’ve read and post the title and author of which account describes which of the two he used, “coffee or snuff”. Any way looking forward to hearing the pod cast.

This story is what originally launched me onto the intense interest of BF. I first heard of the Albert Ostman story from Lloyd Pye – Everything You Know Is Wrong. I had to go hear the whole story and I caught it on YouTube. Extremely fascinating. Can’t wait for the next show!

Curious to know Wes, if you get this in time before you do this show. I’ve heard a couple of times, and I think in episode 33 a dog man encounter. They’ve talked about bigfoot taking humans as slaves. The women in episode I believe 33 talks about her father saying, when he was a woodsman, that sasquatch will take you as a slave. Albert Ostman also talks about in his story that he said he felt he wasn’t in danger, but he also felt he was not free to go. Any other stories of that out there? Maybe Bob and you could share some light on that topic. Thanks.
