A listener writes “Hey Wes. I’ve been listening to your podcast for about a month now and really appreciate your effort in getting people’s stories out there. I had a pretty bizarre experience about 12 years ago and figured you may like to hear about it. There’s some backstory that I didn’t discover until recently and will share that as well if you’re interested.
This happened in Barnstead, NH. One night me and my girlfriend at the time were walking to another friend’s house. This was in a small, private community built around a man made lake. It’s a pretty wooded area with a lot of summer houses scattered about with a few street lights here and there. So there are spots sometimes for a half a mile that are shrouded in complete darkness. We were approaching a T in the road with one of those few streetlights across the way. Had it not been there I wouldn’t have seen anything. Anyway, as we stepped into the light and started to make a right there was a loud cracking in a tree above me.
At first I thought it was a branch breaking so I jumped backwards out of the way. Then this thing hit the ground and I just froze. The best way I can explain this is that it stood up and shook itself off kind of like it was startled. When this thing stood it was about seven feet tall. Then it kind of went on all fours and took off into the woods across the street.
I’ve never in my life seen anything move so fast. I don’t know if it was trying to land on me on purpose or what the deal was. I’ve grown up in rural areas most of my life and have heard or seen all kinds of animals at night and this was obviously not normal. I wondered for years what this could have been but finally I’ve drawn a conclusion.
This coupled with another experience I had a couple miles away from that same spot AND sightings conveyed to me by others have led me to believe this was definitely a Sasquatch. I’ve done some research and I think there is a strange breed of this animal exclusive to the NH area roaming around.”
Joyce E
Interesting encounter….wonder why he thinks their is a type of Sasquatch exclusive to NH?
Dale M
Man I’m damn near 60 and I’ve been hunting and camping for 50+ years and while I’ve never had a encounter (that I know of) I would have had a stroke if something fell out Of a tree in front of me…I would have thought of 2 words…RUN & FAST!!! It’s to bad he didn’t come on the radio with Wes cause that sounds like a great story to listen to…??
Amy H
Spot on Dale!
I once saw a fish fall from the sky. Freaked me out until I heard a heron in a distant tree. Whew! I realized he dropped it and it landed in front of me still flopping..and it had a hole in the center of its stomach (clearly a beak pierced it).
I’d either die of a heart attack or run like Usane Bolt!
Denise F
How interesting, I almost thought the branch gave way on the creature but the writer didn’t mention a big branch falling….. actually he or she may not have worried about that detail at the time.
Tedd
Your parents must be so proud!

Matthew K, Why are you a member and pay to be one, if you have this kind of attitude? Leave already.
Asheim
Matthew if you are trying to get under Wes’s skin it won’t work. He has had worse scrutiny than you and he has not only survived it, he is thriving. And yes , why are you here?
Asheim
Wes, sounds like a really good show in the making. ?
Denise F
*eye roll*
I had a cousin (funny, country woman) who used to say “just one of those people who couldn’t pour piss outta a
boot” ? She used that for a wide range of folks.
Denise F
She also had one that was “I didn’t know whether to shit or go blind”…..never knew what that one meant LoL
Amy H
Shit or go blind…that’s funny precisely because who knows what the heck it means!
Denise F
I feel like it was her way of relaying her shock at something. Sure do miss her, she was a character. ?
Terri N
Often I want to look up, but I realize They may be up there and, If they don’t think I see them, I get to be the proverbial Ostrich and make believe there’s nothing there…just look at the ground and Move On! Although… I’d likely have been Pouring piss out of my boots if that creature fell out of the tree in front of me! Your cousin must have been a riot!? The Shit or go blind is supposedly used in an insurmountable problem…and coming on one of these creature would certainly stack you in that pile! Yikes!
Bal G
Wow the witness believes it might have been trying to land on him. That sounds sinister.
Celia
I’d love to hear more. Hope he agrees to be on the show.
Denise F
I appreciate you keeping my stories but I look a little crazy at this point, lol ?
Lisa H
i would love to hear from this witness also i am curious what the folks from this NH area have to say about sighting in this area.
harry g
whos laughing? ugh!
pam
Maybe the cracking he heard was the branch about to give way, and the creature just fell off it! What a scene.
Asheim
Can you just imagine what the odds are for that happening?!
Avis B
I think there is a strange breed of this animal exclusive to the NH area roaming around.”………. What does this mean? Strange Breed? Exclusive to the NH area? Wes you need to get him on.. so he can Tell the Rest of the Story.. Please and thank you for all you do Wes..!!
Lisa A
Heart attack moment for sure!

Long time listener here in southern NH on the coast, love the sbow! Barnstead is in the southern portion of NH right below Lake Winnipesaukee and a very wooded area with a lot of lakes, ponds and streams etc. NH is a very rural state minus the seacoast and Manchester area definitely plenty of room for any type of animal or being to roam. A relative of mine knew people growing up who caught something upright on a trail cam but just kept the photo to themselves and show friends/family. Definitely activity in NH and surrounding states…
Terri N
Reading about sightings is Great, although what happens when an experience begins to talk is amazing! You hear all of the feeling attached and little bits of milliseconds begin to be remembered when they’re talking about it. Those little gems are only Imaginable when we read something like this encounter ( Heart attack moment for sure!) … and I can only imagine how nervous some folks would be to even speak about it, feeling all of those nerves, searing back up into their bodies! Let alone having it shared with the whole world! My hat is Off to every one of them… Wes … sheer bravery! Fear, but still, Bravery!
