A listener writes “We love your show and I’m a member of Sasquatch Chronicles. My family and I have been listening for over a year and have been looking forward to going out to look for Sasquatch. We took a road trip to Indiana for a family reunion over 4th of July and I knew a great spot to try our luck.
This past Friday my daughter Katie and I went to the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana. We climbed up a fire tower and played the Sierra Sounds howls and whoops from my big Bluetooth speaker at the top of the tower for about 30minutes or so. Then we hiked in about 1.5miles to go to a cemetery. Our dog kept pulling us forward on her leash, she was sniffing all around. About the .5mile mark it got so silent and we never heard anything else – no birds, no insects and even the flies had left us alone. And I thought I heard movement and thumps from both sides behind us to the east and west. But we kept going and around 1.5 miles we stopped and did a tree knock. A few seconds later we heard a fake woodpecker about 250yds away to our west.
We kind of got spooked and decided to turn around and hike back. We hiked for about 2 minutes and did another knock and boom! Instantly heard the fake woodpecker again. Only this time it was closer like 100 yds to the west. We started walking faster and about a minute later heard the fake woodpecker again but it was much closer – like 40yds. Then I thought I heard thumping from the east side of us. Our dog Bailey didn’t alert but she stopped pulling on her leash and was staying right with us. As we walked I thought I heard something on both sides behind us and told my daughter to stop so we could listen. When we stopped an acorn or a rock or something small came out of the east side thrown toward us. That spooked us even more and we started hiking again at a good clip, then about of 30 seconds later Katie smelled something rotten – said like a dead skunk – that she didn’t smell when we were hiking in (I can’t smell anything at all bc of COVID vaccine.
You can put a cup of beach or ammonium under my nose and I can’t smell a thing) About 400yds after that we heard a screech about 100yds ahead of us to the east. I could’ve sworn we were being paced out but never heard any big footsteps or walking. Just the occasional rustling of leaves/limbs. About 200yds from the truck we started hearing & seeing birds and the flies came back.
I’ve spent my whole life in the woods I used to live in the mountains of MT and WY in tents in the summer doing research and after college in southern OR as a BLM contractor. But coming out I’ve never been so happy to see my truck or as scared in the woods. I didn’t have a big enough gun (I only had a 9mm w me on Friday) or a big enough group to feel secure. But truth be told, we sort of invited this on ourselves. ☠️
I’ve had other strange encounters during my years in the forest; and there are more details to this story -we’d love the chance to talk with you and share more. Please let us know if you’re interested in chatting more.

Has to be entertaining as hell to be a Sasquatch and punk un-armed humans.

Seems a very good idea to get an encounter. Did a little research and found there are 13 fire towers in Indiana that you can climb and blasting some Sierra Sounds is probably as good a way to get a response as any method. Might be iteresting to take a sleeping bag and sleep out overnite at this high point. I would like to hear more.

I would be most curious which fire tower you and your daughter climbed, most are withen 3 hour drive for me.

Fake Sasquatch’s responding to fake woodpeckers.
