I emailed you back in 2018 only saying a little and stating I would email more when I emailed again later. Well, it’s later. After listening to Mike, in Episode 731, talk about how apprehensive he was to tell his story and that people should share their stories. I have tried once before but became nervous about going onto a podcast. So, I refrained. I am going to try to detail all that I went through in both of my encounters. I never saw anything and cannot prove they were not people who did these things to me BUT my experiences mirror so many that I have heard on your show.
There is so much that lead me to be out camping when I was it’s important but I will leave it out to make the email shorter.
In my first encounter I was camped out on private property in NC right on the Stokes, Surry, Forsyth and Yadkin county lines. I had chosen this spot due to its proximity to a small river so that I could fish for food because I planned on being out there for a few months before I left for PA. I placed my tent on a small plateau which had about an 8 foot rise. I placed my tent about ten feet from the edge and it was angled just enough so that if it rained I would not have problems with standing water. It was about midday when I finished setting up everything(birds were singing, crickets and frogs were chirping) and decided to walk the few miles to my friend’s place who lived nearby. I spent the remainder of the day with him. Just as the sun was setting he offered to drive me as close as he could to where I set my tent. By the time I walked into the woods there was only a thin sliver of light remaining in the sky. So, it was dark under the canopy. One thing I did not notice til later in the evening was that there were no sounds as I entered the woods. Not even crickets. Without even noticing that at the time I got to my tent and began to settle in for my first night in these woods. I had been warned about coyotes by my friend and even took the gun he offered just in case anything ran into me. Since he said coyotes were quite prevalent in that area.
I had not been in my tent but a few minutes when I heard that whooosh sound that sticks make when they are thrown or swung around. Then a stick hit my tent. I paused for a moment thinking that that sound only happens when sticks are thrown not when they fall. Eventually I just convinced myself that one had just fallen on the tent. However, maybe five minutes after I convinced myself that one had fallen I heard that sound again and another one hit exactly where the other had. So, I unzipped the tent( which as you know is never silent) got out and brought my 1000 lumen light with me. I walked out to the area I thought the stick had been thrown from. Looked around but saw nothing. No sounds of anyone or anything moving. Still no sounds of anything else either. The night was silent. Other than the sounds I was making. After the fruitless search I went huh and got back into the tent. Just as I was getting ready to turn out the light I heard heavy footfalls that were dragging through the dry leaves that covered the forest floor. From the sound it seemed to me that there were two people. I went crap the property owner has come out and now I’m caught. Remember I am on a small plateau that will be important.
I decided to leave the light on since there was no way that they couldn’t have seen it and I sat waiting. Waiting and listening to them pass below the plateau going around to where the ground leveled out. They paused. I heard what I thought were muffled voices. So again I thought I would get told to get off the property. Nothing. After the muffled voices stopped one of them went off deeper into the woods. The funny thing about this was the I could still hear the footfalls but they were no longer dragging in the leaves. I sat waiting. Knowing I had heard two. About half an hour to 45 minutes passed. From where they had stopped I heard the heavy foot dragging in the leaves again. They went from where they separated back around the plateau and stopped right were I could have sworn the sticks had been thrown from. I waited. Waiting for someone to say something. Anything. Still nothing. About 30 minutes later they went in the same loud motions back to exactly where they had stopped initially. I decided to get out. With my bright light again AND loud unzipping I get out to investigate. I went to where the sound stopped which had to be no more than 30 yards. Nothing. I looked around again. Fortunately my light illuminated a lot but there was nothing. No one. I was beginning to get freaked out. Thinking if these were people they were very shitty and could have simply told me to get off their property.
Yes, I was in the wrong. But this was the perfect spot to spend several months preparing to hike. Being able to get my own food and water and close enough to friends if I needed assistance.
After beginning to get really uncomfortable And not finding anyone this second time getting out of the tent I went back to settle in and stay awake the rest of the night.
About 30 minutes, I say about because I had my phone turned off and packed away at this point so I do not know what time it was or how long it really was between the times it would walk back and forth.
It continued to do this roughly every 30 to 45 minutes for the rest of the night. Me being silent and waiting. After being freaked out enough I just began to get angry. I really wanted to sleep. After it made it back to the point where the sticks had been thrown Around 3:30 maybe 4:00 I tried to get out of the tent quietly as I could but still wasn’t quiet. I got out as fast as I could and headed to that spot which was maybe 50 feet away from the tent. I looked around more thoroughly and still found nothing at all. I loudly stated that if they would leave me alone to sleep a little I would be gone when it became light. Still no sounds. There were none all night except them and what was either a opossum or a raccoon based on the size that came digging and sniffing around the tent that came between whoever or whatever was messing with me.
After the third time it continued until daylight then silence. I got out of the tent and began packing up when I noticed that the fiberglass rod that had been hit by the stick twice was broken. I found that interesting.
After that I moved my tent onto my friend’s property that lived nearby. I had no more run ins while there nor did I encounter coyotes but every night after that I heard them and where they traveled around the property that I was on. That is pretty much it from my first encounter.
was just listening to Pennsylvania Bigfoot episode 38 and heard Brian mention Butler county Pennsylvania. I did a double take to make sure I had heard correctly. I had a strange encounter in Butler recently. I was up in Butler visiting with family while also camping and my second night out I had someone or something circle my tent for nearly four hours in the pouring rain. I wanted to believe it was people. But why constantly circle and in the pouring rain. I also had a similar encounter in NC,where I am from, right before I left to go to Pennsylvania. That night in Pennsylvania I never got out of my tent while all of this was going on. I listened and waited because of the encounter I had in NC. Whatever I had circling my tent there was gone before I could get out of the tent. In NC it lasted all night. So in Pennsylvania I decided to treat things differently. I would listen and wait with my hands on my weapons if I needed them. While I listened I learned that I had two near the tent one person if that is what it was stayed on the front and left side of the tent while the other that sounded smaller due to lighter footfalls stayed on the back and right side. When the one on the front left would move the one on the back right would stay still. They stayed in the same patterns the whole time I waited. I waited for one of them to touch or mess with the tent in any way before I would let myself say anything. Yet they never messed with the tent. The one on the back right came within two feet of the tent and knocked on the small tree the tent was next to. It did this twice that night. What made me think it was people was after about two hours of circling the tent the one on the front left had a light that would flash for a second then go off and I would hear it move to another section but as this happened the inside of my tent lit up like it was day outside and it was around 12:00 am and pitch black. Prior to them using what I thought to be flashlights it was almost pitch black in my tent and I could only see when I used my phone to text back and forth with my uncle since I was letting him know what was going on. I could go on for a little while longer but I just wanted to relate that I had a strange encounter in Pennsylvania home of the man in Episode 38 and the encounter I had there almost mirrored the one I had in NC only a little over a month prior. Thank you again for the show.”

Thank you for relaying your story. Be careful and I wouldn’t go beyond your friend’s place anymore. Very scary!!

Thank you !

This is one of the scariest things I have read lately. OMG! But I feel like there is something being left out. You said the reason you had to be out camping in NC was important, maybe that statement has wedged in my head. IDK Please be careful, something is really out of kilter it seems.

They seem curious with this man. I just don’t think that is good….
