Witness encounter story

A witness sent me his encounter story and I am working to get him on the show, he writes: “My sighting occurred in August of 1981 when I was 18 years old. It happened here in the Prescott National Forest. This event changed the way I view the world.

I was driving along on a dirt forest service road in the evening when I saw something in my rear view mirror walking about 100 yards off and parallel to the road. It had reddish brown fur and at first I literally thought it was an ape. It was the brightness of the red fur that caught my eye.
I slammed on my brakes and backed the car up without taking my eyes off of this thing. When I stopped the car, I watched it walking viewing it through the back and then the side windows of my car as it did so. It was on my right, the passenger side of the car. At this point I was about a hundred feet or so from it. I probably saw it for about 20-30 seconds although it’s kind of hard to tell. I was in shock at this point.
What I saw was about 9ft. tall. Maybe even taller. It was massive. The first thing I noticed was the back of his head was cone shaped but not to the extreme and the head sat on the shoulders like it didn’t have a neck.

I only saw the face for a split second. The only thing I remember was part of it was black. As it got even with the car it turned its shoulder as if to block its face from me. When it turned its shoulder the head turned with it. I had a side profile at that time. The width of the chest was at least 2 1/2ft.  The width across the shoulders was about 4 ft. I could also see the bicep. It was huge and I could see the muscles flex underneath the fur. It was larger than any man.
As it walked by it swung it’s arms high in the air and at this point I could see hair hanging down it’s arm. It was probably 14-18 inches long. As weird as this sounds, it’s like the Rob Lowe commercial where he has “arm curtain’s”.  The fur on the body was maybe only 4in. long or so. It covered ground very quickly. It’s knee’s bent as it walked. When it reached the other side of the clearing it stuck it’s arm out and pushed back the brush and just disappeared. It was in one smooth movement. It was like the forest swallowed it up.
I remember thinking to myself that this was the king of the jungle, so to speak. It’s hard to describe this but it was as if my mind was blown. My inner dialogue was saying ” this is not supposed to be real but yet I am looking at it and it is real”. It was if my mind was wrestling with itself. Like I said it is very hard to put into words how I felt. This thing walked as though it was on a mission. It knew I was there but didn’t seem to care.
It took me about 5 years before I would go in the forest again. I have only recently been back to the sight where this all took place. Like I said earlier this has changed my whole perspective on things. When I am in the forest I am heavily armed and tend to keep an eye out.”
