Tonight’s Show: It let out this blood-curdling scream/roar

A listener writes “Wes, I just discovered your show and I wanted to share my encounter with you. It was similar to the guys encounter that watched one kill a hog.

My encounter took place in 2010. I had started renting a house that set on almost 400 acres, most of which was wooded. When I first moved in, I spent a lot of time walking the property trying to find the best hunting spots. On the back side of the property I came across a stick-built structure that was a pretty good size and was almost like a dome but had one side open. It was strange but I didn’t think anything of it at the time. I’m not sure if this thing stayed in there or not, but I suppose it’s possible.

Anyway, a few months later when deer season started, I was out in my stand and had been trying to get a shot on this enormous 12-point buck that had been roaming around out there.

This particular morning was strange right from the start. I just felt like something was off. But as I sat in the stand and the sun began to rise, there was a doe making her way towards me. She was acting strange. I had already made my mind up I was going to let her walk and try to get that buck if it came in, but I suddenly got a feeling that I can only compare to the feeling I got when I was a kid. I grew up in a haunted house. Everyone there from family to the kids in the neighborhood all had experiences, but I took the brunt of the experiences for sure and I always knew when something was getting ready to happen. Just an electric, terrified type of feeling. But I got that feeling sitting there and I was scanning the area to see if something was up.

I saw this brownish/red figure hunkered down about 100 yards away. It was watching this doe come in and once that doe got parallel to it, this thing leaped and punched this doe in the ribs so hard that it went sliding across the ground, kicking in a panic trying to get back up but this thing pounced on it, picked it up and slammed it down and began slamming its fist into its side until it died. After that, it let out this blood-curdling scream/roar and carried the deer off. I sat there in complete shock for a couple hours trying to comprehend what I saw and muster the courage to get down from my stand. It was absolutely insane and to this day it is the only encounter I’ve had.

Thanks, Wes. Love the show!”
