Tonight’s Show: Encounters from Alberta, Canada

I am broadcasting from a remote location and I hope my internet connection holds up. I will be posting the show later tonight for the members. It will be up a little later than normal. Thank you for your patience this week.

A listener writes “Hi Wes. I recently found your show and I love it. I went back to the very start of your episode listening and started to listen from the very beginning.

I am a professional outfitter and guide from Alberta, Canada and have been for 10 years now. I recent heard two different shows of yours that touched on my precise region (southern Alberta) and my experience happened less than 15 miles (as the crow flies) from “Gords” story (episode 57) on Mist creek in the Highwood river Valley.

A couple years back I was out in the bush in a remote, hard to access valley that I often work in and that’s when my life had been changed forever. Just writing this email is making me tremble while I sit in the comfort of my own home.

I was unable to get a view of the animal or creature that was responsible for the days events but I did have EVERY other commonly reported detail from other experiences on your show. The details include vocalizations, rock throwing (closer to boulders), that thick, lingering stench that will almost buckle your knees the second it hits you (thinking back I remember the odd feeling similar to having an oily residue on my skin immediately after stumbling into that smell. And lastly, after all that and being unable to see any sign of life or movement, I continued in the same direction and discovered the oddly fresh, piles of wild greens that were perfectly laid out on trail ahead of me. These piles were very bizarre.

They were stacked in layers as if the picker had been one plant first, then a second, then a third. These piles were definitely not natural and they were four of them. I do have pictures of the area and I got several photos of the salads that I could share with you.

Im not trying to get on your show but I would love a chance to be able to share my experience with you. Its not a story I’ve ever told anyone because of how it sounds to typical people these days. I would really appreciate being able to share this with you and get your opinions as to what was happening.”

I will also be welcoming JW to the show. JW writes “I stumbled across the show a couple of months ago as a result of my
experience and subsequent search to better understand what I had encountered. I’ve been on the fence in regards to contacting you and sharing what I went through. At this point, I’ve made it up to the mid-80’s in the episodes and after listening to a show today concerning the personal  attacks you guys have been taking, I finally found the courage to email you. My experience cost me my closest friend and I found myself relating with you guys and absolutely furious as I listened while working. I’d like
to share with you what I experienced and later learned about the subject should you like to do so. I’m not going to write about the experience in this email because it is rather lengthy and I’m writing this on my lunch break. I will say that the encounter took place in Everglades National Park in the beginning of the 2013 summer. Since then, I’ve had an incredibly hard time dealing with the matter and even harder time trying to make sense of it all. The show has been of great help to me and, as others have said,
has been rather therapeutic. I’m sure you’re quite busy with life and the show, but should you like to speak on the phone, shoot me an email back and I will send you my contact information. I think what you’ve got going with the show is absolutely awesome and extremely helpful for those of us that have had the shit scared out of us. Personally, it changed my life and the show has become an outlet for me. Thanks for your time. JW”
