Mark writes “Wes I have only talked to one person since this happened in oct of 1974 your episode 24 with kumbo is the reason I’m writing. I was raised two miles from the old Aldridge saw mill he spoke about. I started hunting in this area when I was 12 I would go camping at the saw mill often with friends on the weekends lots of time was uneventful but every now and then it would have strange noises we would have food stolen.
In the night but in October of 1974 it changed we planned a camp out so Friday I got a early start I pack stuff to the mill and started putting set lines in the river went hunting and got a few s squirrels for supper but all during the day I was uneasy something just wasn’t right but I shook it off had got several squirrels and a few catfish I went back to the mill cleaned everything and started cooking so when my friends showed up.
I planned on having dinner ready about 4 or 5 I started hearing sounds I have never heard before about that time one of my friends showed up and said it would be me and him the rest of the guys couldn’t make it till the next day so we fixed a plate and ate supper every now and then we hear this strange noises as it got dark we both got real uneasy so we backed up it one of the old building and built a fire up by the opening we had a boom box so we turned it on and tried to ignore this feeling it about 10 and stuff went wild screaming growling trees shaking we had 3 concert walls about 30 ft high and just the one hole in the front by the woods what ever was out there was tarring up everything we had are guns pointed at the opening and hoped whatever it was did not try to come on us it got so bad finally me and my friend took or shoot guns and fired four shots into the woods and it stopped.
A few minutes later it started beating and banging on the concrete walls behind and on the sides I thought daylight was never going to come as the night wore on it started slacking off about 430 or 5 in the morning it stopped daylight finally came we could not make myself check I just knew if I stuck my head out it would be all over finally we load up some courage eased out and headed for the truck that was my last camping trip at the mill that night was the most terrifying night of my life the only time I talked about it was to my father and all he kept saying was not to be repeating this to other people he said he believed me but others would not I hunted the woods a lot of times after that but never by myself and was always out of the woods before dark.”
