A cultural artifact, or cultural artefact, is a term used in the social sciences, particularly anthropology, ethnology and sociology for anything created by humans which gives information about the culture of its creator and users.

After being lost for 2000 years, the epic story was originally discovered in the ruins of the library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh. Written in cuneiform on 12 clay tablets, the story itself is believed to be at least 4000 years old.”
