In the early winter of 2022, a woman in Russell Springs, Kentucky, stepped outside for what should have been an ordinary walk to her mailbox. But what she saw standing in a nearby field was anything but ordinary.
Roughly 100 yards away, she noticed something standing upright in the field. At first, she couldn’t quite make sense of it. The figure was large. It appeared to be completely covered in reddish-brown hair. She couldn’t see any clothing.
From her vantage point, on a clear winter day, the figure didn’t look like a bear and it didn’t look like a person, either. The strange figure appeared to be standing almost sideways, as if it had been moving across the field. But its head was turned toward her.
It wasn’t moving.
She continued toward the mailbox, collected her mail, and began walking back toward the house. When she looked toward the field again, she expected the figure to be gone. It wasn’t. It was still there.
Same location.
Same position.
Completely motionless.
Perhaps whatever was standing in the field had noticed her presence and simply froze, waiting for her to leave. The witness was adamant about what she believed she had seen—and, perhaps more importantly, what she believed she hadn’t seen. It was not a bear and was not a person.
