A listener writes “Back in Spring/Summer of 2019, we began hearing a weird noise in our backyard at night. It would start around 1am and go till around 3 or 4.
This sound terrified me for months, but I refused to close the windows because I love sleeping with them open. After a full summer of this freaking me out at least 3 times a week, I decided to buy a heavy duty flashlight and confront whatever the hell this was.
The following video is me out on our back deck facing the marsh where the noise came from each night. It was always at randomly spaced intervals, and would last differing amounts of time, so it didn’t seem to be something mechanical or anything on a timer like a sprinkler system.
You’ll notice when I step closer to the edge of the deck and move the flashlight around, the sound stops until I back up closer to the house again. After I went outside and did this, it stopped bothering me as much and eventually petered out. I don’t remember how many days it took for the sound to stop showing up completely, but I know after this night it didn’t terrify me anymore which made me wonder if it was something that was feeding off my fear.
