Sasquatch Chronicles

Strange experience in the San Houston National Forest

A listener writes “I’m writing to share a possible encounter I had just 2 days ago in the Sam Houston National forest here in Texas. It’s kind of a lot to go over, and while I didn’t physically put eyes on whatever this thing was, after talking with the other people in my camp, we’re just plain stumped on what it could have been, and we’re struggling to come up with an answer.

So Friday night, myself, and 2 buddies and their SO’s were camping out in the SHNF for opening weekend of bow season. We had set up camp, and settled in for bed at about 8:30pm with no issues. I awoke at approximately 1am to the sound of tin foil being crunched up, and what sounded like eating noises right outside my tent, probably 5 feet or so from the tent. The first thing I immediately noticed was this god awful smell. It was like a mixture of wet dog, and like rotting trash. I laid still and just listened for a minute, and eventually heard what sounded like some deep grunting.

Shortly after, I had shifted over to grab my pistol and just held it on my chest. I think whatever was out there had heard me, because the eating noises stopped, and then shortly after I heard solid, heavy footsteps walking back to the wood line behind the tent.

Anyways there’s a lot more to this story I would love to share, but I would be typing it out for hours. If it’s something you’d be interested in hearing more about, I’d love to be able to explain it all out to you and get your thoughts on what it could have possibly been.”
