A listener writes “I live in Washington just north of you on a native rez. The last year “Pope & Talbot” a logging company have sincerely disrupted the habitat of what I can only tell you I’ve been told by an elder I cared for explained to me.
We moved to the rez from Tacoma in 2002 our first week here I heard a baby crying in the woods at about 3am no biggy my husband said it was baby cougars (there is a 100ft drop behind my home with a gully) something bothered me though it sounded very humanish, anyhow, I was at this time taking care of an elder n wasn’t into this mythical creature sasquatch until she told me the story’s.
I started having experiences over the past 10 years here n there vocals mostly, the sound of children in my backyard knocking cans over kicking them at 330 in the morning when I stood to my feet to look out the window I heard shuffling through the brush. Our house m neighbors house has been hit significantly hard enough to wake family up. My middle daughter hated her room closest to the woods she said she saw two bright lights looking in her window night after night I know now what it was only because recently my husband was on a beach at night getting set up for a clam dig he works for his tribal natural resources dept. He looked up on the bluff cause he said he got an uneasy feeling like he was being watched n up on the bluff about 50ft he said he saw 2 bright green glowing eyes. He said the silhouette was really big he quickly went to grab his co worker and it was gone.
They P&T (above) have cut down so much tree’s you can see the mountain between our rez n the highway which is huge. Across the highway from our rez used to be lush forestry and it’s all gone, they have cut all the Forrest down up to our protected land literally n I believe that that’s why we are having so much more activity. I don’t really know what the tribe believes about them n I’m not going to ask because our tribal cop’s some are ex military n would hate to have the BIA notified or men in black. My final holy cow moment was 6-8 months ago on my way to work I had two separate encounters the first one I was driving to work on a road called Miller Bay rd it’s a back hwy to Bainbridge Island I passed heritage park which is a trail park was on a straightaway coming to the stoplight I thought it was a big parka jacket with fur hanging on a tree stup they cut down (this was at 5am n still dark out hardly any lights on this road) as I slowed down this huge tree stump stood up when my lights shone on it n it walked up into the tree line behind it n the blink of an eye. I immediately tried to call my husband I was freaking out n of course there I am in a deadzone as soon I was out I blew his phone up till he answered.
The last sighting I had as a mother gave me a special understanding the encounter lasted maybe minute or two. I was looking out my backdoor n decided to go pick up when I stood up I thought I heard light steps in the woods I looked down our little hill which btw has trails to the beach n to other neighborhoods like a wooded highway. I looked and focused really hard cause there are big tree’s down there. When from behind one of the big tree’s I saw a face slightly peak out. I thought to myself “Oh my god I’m not seeing this, plz Lord don’t let this be an aggressive one” I backed up slowly and she continued on her way while keeping her eyes as fixed in me as I was on her. The amazing thing is I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw that holding on to her was a baby I was amazed I smiled n lowered my head in backed into my door. She held onto the baby with one arm while she was pushing brush aside with the other. She was amazing she wasn’t extremely muscular but, she had muscle she was about 7 ft her hair was brownish red her eyes deep n soul penetrating. The brush covered her legs n feet only because of the angle n slope of the hill so I saw from knees up her thighs were very large best way to describe her is “China” the wrestler x 3.
