We live in Southwest Oklahoma on appx 160-ish acres… lots of thick treed areas.
The north part of the land is very heavily treed, with a small lake and some ponds. It was about 8:30 am and it had rained all night, so the morning was very wet and still. I was off that day, and we had just adopted a one year-old golden retriever and I was taking him out for a walk. To the west of our house is a 5 acre lot that we had “hog fenced” so the dog (Bumi) could run free and explore as I walked along with him, and not be able to get out out and into the cattle (which he had never seen before and was dangerously obsessed)
So, between our house and this 5 acre Bumi running pasture, there is a fence and along that fence is a line of trees and bushes. I walk him into his running pasture and we have a good walk… the rain had stopped and it was just very, VERY still and quiet, so I decided to let him go some extra laps around the place.
It was time to go back to the house and we are making our way back to the fence/tree line that is between us and the house. Bumi is walking beside me. checking out an old tractor tire, so I’m pausing to look around when I see a bush at the fence/tree line which is sort of down hill from me… umm I am not a good judge at yardage, but I would say it was about a bus and a half…?
Anyway, I realize that this bush seemed like maybe it hadnt been there before, which was odd, so I pause and stare, because in my mind I’m thinking “well…that bush looks like it could be a…” and as I think that , (and please …I’m not crazy, but this sounds like it) this “bush” , as if it read my thoughts, that same instant, sort of morphed, all of the “bush” looking things fell away, it became a lot taller, erect, and just sat there and stared at me. It had hyena-looking fur, the nose/face was like that of a hyena, rounded ears…taller than a dog, but It was not a dog, not a mountain lion, not a coyote, I just sat there trying to figure out what I was looking at. All of the while It was sitting there just staring and the word “Watcher” just went over and over in my head. oh geez… I know I sound like a crazy woman. And as I stood there staring, wondering what the Hell to do or even think, this thing literally looked like it was taking a bow, and MELTED away (as best as I can describe it) It did NOT go under the fence (which was behind it) and it did NOT go left or right…I mean nothing moved or was disturbed… it just “melted away” I grabbed my dog, and we had to walk down that hill past where I had seen that thing and made my way past the fence to the house, which was uneventful. thankfully.
Wes, the weirdest thing was that my dog never acted like he smelled or saw anything…and he can smell and chase a rabbit or squirrel, find a snake, or turtle in the very tall grass and growth from clear across the pasture, and the chase is ON… so that thing had to be there the entire time we were out there. We had to have walked right by it – it is like it was completely hidden from us in plain sight. My husband went out when he got home to see if we could see tracks or anything… but it had rained a lot and leaves had fallen like crazy in that area and we saw nothing.
When I tell my co-workers, they are like ” oh you saw a deer… you saw a mountain lion…that must have been a mangy coyote…” I have no idea what it was , but if there are creepy large hyenas that can do a disappearing act in OK, then I would say that was it… One of my coworkers lives out where I do about 20 minutes away and she has some stories about two guys who showed up at her place asking to look at the creek bed behind her house for prints… apparently they came out with some casts . I’m interested in that story, but she is very private about it. So maybe I’m not crazy. I thought OK was not a place for aliens and Bigfoot, but I think maybe I was wrong.”
