Students and teachers alike couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing last Wednesday when an apparent Sasquatch made an appearance outside the school building. Covered from head to toe in thick brown hair, the unexpected visitor attracted a great deal of attention as it ran past classroom windows.
Its presence prompted school authorities to lock the area down and students were ushered indoors.
According to Firelands Superintendent Michael Von Gunten, ‘Bigfoot’ had left its vehicle in one of the nearby parking lots before crossing the campus grounds. “The school day was negatively impacted and although lockdown drills are practiced regularly, the situation caused understandable concern and disruption,” he said.
“While some people may make light of the situation, the fact remains that we cannot waver from the side of safety. This individual induced panic on our campus and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”
It later transpired that the hairy visitor had in fact been a parent of one of the students who had decided to dress up as Bigfoot as part of some sort of prank.
School officials were evidently not too amused by the stunt, but the students found it hilarious.
Several of them ended up recording the incident and posting the footage up on Facebook.
