A listener writes “Hey Wes, I have been meaning to write sooner. I recently had an encounter. To spare you a lengthy email I will give you the Cliff Notes. It will be followed by a few photos of the site while I was doing the foot print castings, a close up photo of a print cast and my best attempt at a visual interpretation of what I saw. There is a lot more detail to this encounter, so if you are interested please be in touch and I can write a more elaborate description about context. I am not sure if I am into being on the show, I am more interested in receiving reassurance in that I saw could actually be real and not hallucinated. Here goes:
Location: Peace Country, Northern Alberta.
Date: August 12, 1016
Time: 8:30 am
Weather: Sunny
I looked at it for about 30 seconds, maybe close to a minute max. During this time my mind kept checking itself. My thought process was like; maybe you are dreaming. No I just woke up and walked down here. These are my jeans, I am wet from washing things. That thing is there doing it’s thing. Maybe I am hallucinating. No way. I am looking right at this thing. It that thought I shifted a bit to make sure I still have control of my body. It was at this point that the figure noticed my movement and looked up. It’s eyes were dark, which was the most startling aspect of it’s appearance. This would have terrified me, but is was the other aspects of its facial features that gave me the impression it was not posing a threat. In that first instance of it looking up it’s face seemed relaxed. Maybe a bit surprised. There was definitely emotion there. When it saw me it made a scoaffing sound, like a low bark only intended for itself or even me to hear. Its expression changed a bit. Like it’s features hardened. The impression I got from that was that it’s peace was spoiled, like I ruined the relaxing time it was having. This is how I interpreted it.
Before it noticed me I was washing my denim cloths in a pond. All my denims were soaking and I would pull them out one by one and tediously pick off as much pine pitch as I could. Then suddenly I got the fear. All the hairs on my body stood up and my skin felt like it was vibrating. Then I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see a huge figure crouched at the waters edge no more than 30 feet away from me. It was on the opposite side of the pond. It was staring into the water with it’s elbows on the ground and hands dangling into the water. It’s feet were sunk into the clay shoreline and I could see the outlines where the clay pushed through in between it’s toes. It’s hair was short and black around it’s head, crotch and thighs, which faded to dark brown on the rest of it’s body. The hair one its calves and knees were thin. From it’s thighs up to the sides of it’s waist the hair lengthened and had a slight wave to it. It’s genitles sagged low and into the muck. The hair seems to be the darkest there and almost all details disappeared into shadows between it’s legs. From it’s waist the size of this thing enlarged exponentially. It’s chest and shoulders were massive. It’s eyes were dark and beady, kind of like a bears eyes. There was so much emotion in it’s eyes and face. In the brief moment when I first noticed it, its face expressed a sense of calm. It almost looked lost in thought while it was dangling it’s hands in the water. Like it was simply enjoying the feeling of clean cool water. It was not drinking it. Just dangling it’s hands gently in the pond.
After it noticed me and scoaffed it then started elevating it’s body, which it when I realized to true size of it. I felt like it could have reached across the pond and picked me up. It’s arms were so long, to the point where it’s hands hung parallel to it’s knees. During the process of standing it began turning it’s torso to the left and before it’s legs were fully extended it took a stride about 4 feet up the embankment. It also grabbed the trunk of one of the nearby aspens and this 10” diameter tree flexed as this thing pulled itself forward. As it did this I heard the suction of it’s feet leaving the clay. It’s second step took it to the top of the embankment and by the fourth step it was pretty much out of sight. It’s movement was extremely elegant. The torso of this thing seemed to remain completely still as it did all this.”
