Sasquatch Chronicles

It was so human like….

A listener writes “Hey Wes, hope you are well. I’ve actually emailed you before. I just read back through those emails and they don’t make much sense. Let me give you a more detailed account.

In 2021 I bought some property in Kentucky, so I’d have a place to camp and possibly live off grid. It’s about an hour and a half west of Louisville, KY. The camp is actually on the south side of a small lake (former gravel pit) and the north side of the lake actually butts up to the Ohio river.

Straight across the river is the Hoosier National Forest. South of the camp is railroad tracks, then a creek that’s more swampy than not.

I had a 6×14 V nose cargo trailer that I converted into a camper. There were no windows, so I usually left the door open. When you enter the camper, there was a counter top to the right and straight ahead from the door I had a stool where I always sat. To the left was the living area. So one night in late summer, around 11pm, I went out to wash my hands.

I had my water jug sitting on the tailgate of my truck. When I got past the camper, I heard a growl. It was deep, slow and powerful. It sounded like it was about 40 feet away, but I remember thinking it came from the hill across the road. (The next day I realized there was no hill. The thing was just tall.) When I heard the growl, I immediately turned around and went back in the camper. Couple minutes later, I was fooling with something on the counter when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye.

It was something white coming up from the bottom corner of my door. (Approximately 16 inches off the ground.) I started to turn as the white thing continued to rise. Before I actually laid eyes on it, I thought it was someone wearing one of those ceremonial tribal masks. Then we met eyes. It got weird immediately. As soon as our eyes met, he did this fake scared thing. His mouth kinda puckered up like he was saying Oooh. Then he opened his eyes wide and start moving his head around like it was scared. I call it a look of sarcastic fear. It felt like he was mocking me if that makes sense. It was so human like….Hope to hear from you. I still haven’t found anyone I can tell the whole encounter.”
