I saw a Bigfoot in late September of 2008

A listener writes “I saw a Bigfoot in late September of 2008, about 75 yards from the Creswell Golf Club parking lot in Creswell, Oregon, at approximately 10:30 a.m. I had a job interview at 10:30 a.m. at the Creswell Golf Club, which is located on Dale Kuni Road. The road runs parallel to I-5 from Creswell to Cottage Grove, Oregon.

I was driving my boyfriend’s 1989 Range Rover. It had a big grille on the front and large roof racks. It was his hunting vehicle and was built to go anywhere. It was late September or early October, around 10:30 in the morning. It was sunny, with a little morning fog and haze still burning off. Back then, the parking lot was gravel and located across the two-lane road from the clubhouse. I was living in Cottage Grove at the time, so I took Dale Kuni Road instead of I-5 to get there. Along that road, you can hear and sometimes even see I-5 through openings in the trees as you drive alongside it.

I parked in the gravel lot, where there were only two other vehicles.

Behind and east of the clubhouse was the driving range, and beyond that was nothing but forest, with a few private fields and lots. There were no developments or towns for 30 to 40 miles until you reached the rural community of Pleasant Hill. After that, it’s mostly national forest until you get to the town of Oakridge, Oregon.

I had just gotten out of the Rover with my resume in hand. As I shut the door and turned to walk across the road, my eyes swept across the landscape. About 60 to 75 yards southeast of me was a line of tall fir and pine trees. As my eyes passed over those trees, right in the middle of them, at that exact moment, what I thought was a tree stood up.

When it stood up, it was at least as tall as the surrounding pines. It was massive the only word that can describe something that big. If it hadn’t stood up at the exact moment I happened to glance in that direction, I never would have seen it. It was that well camouflaged. No joke.

Sheer terror.

I can still remember the sound I made when my breath caught after seeing it, even to this day. You can’t imagine how quickly panicked thoughts raced through my mind in that single moment. My first thought was, “Oh, this Rover isn’t going to do it,” followed immediately by, “Can I make it from here to the clubhouse before it gets from there to here?”

I slammed the door and booked it. I mean, I absolutely booked it into the clubhouse, all the while knowing absolutely knowing and expecting to be grabbed by it as I ran for my life. That didn’t happen, obviously. When I entered the clubhouse which was two stories, by the way there were only two employees inside. One of them was the manager who was supposed to interview me.

I remember thinking, after getting inside, “This isn’t going to do it either,” and actually asking if anyone had a gun. Now, I would never, ever, ever ask someone if they had a gun. Much less right before a job interview. I told them I had seen something huge out there, and they could tell I was badly shaken. The manager walked outside but didn’t see anything. When I went back out to look, it was gone.

Needless to say, I didn’t get the job. I was so terrified by what I had seen that I took I-5 home instead of Dale Kuni Road. I called my boyfriend and told him what I had seen.

He said, “Oh, you saw a Bigfoot.”

Like it was just a normal thing.

I also believe I called the Cottage Grove Police Department’s non emergency number and anonymously reported what I had just seen. There are more details, but that’s the gist of it.”
