A listener writes “I have been having problems with some creatures off and on throughout the years where I live. I live in the northern Arizona/New Mexico border on the Navajo Rez moved to the area where my wife is from.
I have come across numerous tracks, small and big and have somewhat know where they travel at night. I live at the bottom of ridgeline that travels from the north to the south. Usually you can spot this creature in the early morning walking back and forth on the ridgeline itself, the only reason I got to find that out was a surveyor was out measuring our property and told us he spotted one on the ridge early morning back in 2013. I have spotted them behind the corral on early morning about 4am. There was three of them standing in the field near the corner post of the property.
So my dog and I hide behind a tree and just watched these things stand there. They were just looking our direction and im figuring that when they saw us, one of them decided to get on all fours and army crawl toward us. The only reason I was able to see them was because it had snowed that week and everywhere was white and these things stood out big time. So needless to say my dog and I cut out and went to work. We usually hear this thing in the night yelling or howling with the coyotes but you have to catch him when he does it, my wife and her mom tend to get the most sounds out of him because when they cut across to the other house usually it will start making noise when then are walking across. I have given him food when the lambs die in the winter or when coyotes get to close to the house.
One time I when I got into shed hunting I could not find any due to me not knowing where to start. So one day I heard someone talking about how they are always watching you. So I decided to go out and I yelled hey brother, they say youre my brother and always watching so I have been feeding for sometime now so I want a deer antler in return for my deeds. Week later we went back and sure enough there was a deer skull w the antlers still attached to it right where we left its food. All this stopped when one early morning we found foot prints all around the house seems to be looking in each window.
So that got me mad and I went back in the woods and told this thing that he broke the rules and if he ever comes around my house I will shoot him and for him breaking that rule I will no longer feed this thing. For awhile it hasn’t moved on from this area for about two winters except for this year. Some reason it moved on im thinking maybe bc its young got tall enough not to be a bother and can travel on its own. IDK but I know my uncles down south are being harassed by this creature, coming up breaking their fences and screaming at their windows. My cousin whose near 50yrs old slept under his bed bc he was scared of the screaming. Also the family saw one about 15ft tall based on where the height of the tree is, if you ever hear of jc Johnson speak of the 15’ one they took a picture of, it’s the same cut across this uses to get to the northern mountain. My family of 6 saw this thing about 1pm while the rain was coming down.”
