A listener writes “I’m from BC grew up just outside of Vancouver and my family has property just outside of 100 mile house. I’m 38 now but I was 11-12 when this happened.
Long story short I was walking from our cabin to the lake that is about 150 yards from us down an old boat launch that was overgrown at the time. I came across what I thought was a big dog and then thought was a large bear looking for wild strawberries. I was about 60 feet away before whatever it was noticed me as I was frozen and terrified. My reaction was just to run back to my cabin where my dad and my brother were so that’s what I did.
When I got back I couldn’t speak, was almost in tears and told my dad there was a bear on the hill. My dad came out and went back down with me and nothing was there. Asked a couple neighbours and no one had seen any bear in the area and someone would have noticed cause everybody talks and knows everyone. Anyways I could get into detail but too long to type. Like I said not sure what it was but it still confuses me to this day and I’ve seen a lot of bears and large dogs.”
