Sasquatch Chronicles

Boy scouts surprise a Sasquatch banging on a out house

A listener sent me this encounter and I found it interesting. The listener writes ” I grew up in Oregon and always been in the outdoors, snowmobiling, fishing and hiking. The encounter I’m going to tell you is second hand told by my friend, it was back in 1976 and my friend was in the boyscouts.

They were getting ready for a camping trip up near the Santiam Pass in Central Oregon close to Detroit Reservoir, they were hiking in to a set of lakes called Twin lakes ( five miles in from forest service road ) they reached the first lake and set up camp, I believe there was 6 kids and two adults, once they got set up they started to explore around the lake and noticed that there was a brand new out house the forest service had installed near the lake. That evening everybody was around the campfire and the adults were telling spooky stories trying to scare us, I believe my friend Doug was 15 or 16 at the time.

We were ready to hit the tents and go to sleep, they were going to hike to the next lake in the morning. Once in there tents Doug said it was about an hour later they were awoken by something hitting, what sounds to be the outhouse, he said it was very loud and there were pauses about 5 to ten minutes apart, Doug told me that him and his buddies thought it was the adults trying to scare them again so they decided to sneak out of there tents and get on their hands and knee’s and quietly head over where they are hearing the smashing at and it’s coming from the outhouse which sits away from the lake a couple hundred yards and Doug said they were going too get right buy the outhouse then jump up and shine there flash lights on what they thought were the adults playing games with them, when the boys counted to three and shined the light on the outhouse they were shocked, Doug said about 10 feet in front of him was a very tall, huge creature and it had a big branch in it’s hands, this thing saw them and they had all their flashlights on it. It took off in seconds. Doug said they didn’t say much about it until the next morning. Just a side note the forest service has had to either repair or replace that outhouse on multiple occasions.”
