Sasquatch Chronicles

A figure outside the window, staring directly at me.

A listener writes “I’m reaching out to you today not with a Sasquatch encounter, but with an experience I had very early in my life, when I was a small child, involving what I believe may have been something extraterrestrial.

The experience has stayed with me my entire life. As I grew older, I often wondered whether what I saw had simply been my imagination. However, many years later, a conversation with a cousin gave me reason to reconsider what I had experienced and ultimately solidified my belief that the event was real.

At the time, my mother, my younger sister, my mom’s boyfriend, and I were living with my great-grandfather, who had a number of health issues. My mother helped take care of him and his needs.

One night, I was in what was my bedroom, lying on the floor on a pallet of blankets and watching cartoons as I was beginning to fall asleep. To my right was a bedroom window. I remember looking toward it and suddenly noticing a figure glide upward into view and stop outside the window, staring directly at me.

What made the experience so strange was the height of the window. From the outside of the house, it was probably eight to ten feet above the ground. The figure didn’t appear to be climbing a ladder or using anything to reach the window. Instead, it seemed to rise in one smooth, fluid motion.

I remember watching the figure for what felt like several minutes. At one point, I noticed its right hand raise. I was completely terrified and didn’t know what I was looking at or what was happening.

Eventually, the figure descended out of sight just as smoothly as it had appeared. Then I noticed what looked like blue and yellow lights outside. Moments later, those lights seemed to zip away into the night sky.

I was absolutely petrified.

As the years passed, I pushed the experience into the back of my mind. I eventually convinced myself that maybe I had been dreaming, or that my imagination had created the entire thing. Childhood memories can be unreliable, after all, and I didn’t have anyone else who could confirm what I had seen.

Then, many years later, I was at a family gathering talking with my cousin. He began telling me about an experience he and a friend had had in which they witnessed what they described as a craft hovering approximately 100 feet above a home for five to ten minutes before suddenly zipping away.

What caught my attention was where this happened: it was in the same neighborhood where I had experienced my encounter as a child.

Hearing my cousin describe what he had witnessed brought my own memory rushing back. Until that moment, I had spent years questioning whether what I remembered had really happened. But hearing someone I knew describe something so unusual, in the very same neighborhood, made me look at my childhood experience in a completely different way.

I can’t say with absolute certainty what I saw that night. I was a very young child, and I understand that memories can change over time. But the details of that night the figure rising smoothly outside the window, the raised hand, the strange blue and yellow lights, and the way those lights suddenly disappeared into the night sky have remained remarkably vivid in my memory.

Whatever it was, the experience has stayed with me for my entire life.”
