A listener writes “Greetings, Wes, I’ve been listening to your YouTube channel for about a week or so now. I just finished listening to Season 1, Episode 9 of your podcast, featuring the interview with Chuy and Raymond about Dog Man. After listening to your most recent podcasts, I’ve started at the beginning of your work and am trying to work my way through them all.
I was stunned to realize that we had experienced some of the same manifestations they described!
My husband and I moved to our location in Mount Morris, Michigan, about three and a half years ago. We hadn’t been here very long before we started experiencing some paranormal events.
The first incident involved someone or something knocking on the carport door three times with three strong knocks, at around 11 p.m. one night. Yeah, I didn’t answer that!
We didn’t have any outside lights at the time, so I don’t know whether it was human or supernatural in origin. It was odd, nonetheless, because of the hour and the darkness surrounding the house.
I originally come from Battle Creek, Michigan. It’s halfway between Chicago and Detroit and can be a somewhat rough area for crime. Because of that, I’ve always remained vigilant. Some things can’t be undone, but they can be prevented. I’m strict about keeping doors locked and cars secured, but I’m not paranoid by any means. I’m just cautious.
There’s a restaurant a little farther up the road on Dort Highway called Gilley’s Coney Island. This weekend, they’re holding their third Bigfoot Festival. I plan on heading up there today to see if anyone is willing to share local Bigfoot sightings. So far, people seem to be tight-lipped. I’ve asked about sightings when I’ve gone there to pick up takeout.
I attended the first festival but missed last year’s because my husband suffered a stroke in August 2025. He was in the hospital for 42 days, including three days on life support, and he almost didn’t make it.
Anyway, back to when we first moved here…
One night, we were in bed, and I hadn’t fallen asleep yet. I heard a male voice coming from the basement. The basement isn’t accessible from outside. The doors were locked, and my husband and I were the only two people in the house. He was asleep.
I couldn’t make out any words, but I could clearly hear a male voice speaking. Realistically, that shouldn’t have been possible. I’m not prone to hallucinations or imagining things, and I’ve never done drugs. However, I’ve experienced paranormal events since I was about four years old.
The next incident happened another night when we were in bed but hadn’t fallen asleep yet. It was after 11 p.m., and I heard something tapping on the bedroom window. It sounded like someone tapping with a fingernail. I’m a bit OCD, so I counted the taps. There were 13.
This time, I had a witness because my husband was still awake.
Neither of us thought it was a good idea to investigate, so we waited a while. Nothing else happened, and eventually, we went to sleep.
Another night, I couldn’t sleep and was feeling restless, so I went to the dining room table and sat looking out the little window facing the thicket next door.
Our property borders a field belonging to the electric company, where its power station is located. I call it “The Electric Field.” The power lines are about a quarter to half a mile away from us. There isn’t much in the area near us; it’s mostly wild land.
When I take the dogs out into the backyard at night, I look over in that direction and wonder what’s out there beyond the little stream that separates our properties. I’ve heard a flock of turkeys from time to time. In fact, late this spring, they actually flew over the fence and ended up in our backyard. We have 1.49 acres of land. I’ve also seen a deer on the other side of the fence.
As I was looking toward the thicket, I saw a fairly large beam of light, which I initially thought came from a powerful flashlight. The beam was directed upward into the sky, aimed toward the heavens at an angle that carried it over the airspace above our backyard. I thought it was very odd and wondered who the heck would be out in the thicket at 1 a.m. and why they would shine a light up into the sky.
Since I’m a 67-year-old woman wearing a nightgown, robe, and slippers, I didn’t think it was prudent to investigate. My husband was asleep, and he’s no spring chicken either, so I didn’t bother him. This was before his stroke.
We’ve also had something walking on the roof at night. There are small animals around here, such as squirrels, raccoons, and opossums, but whatever was up there sounded much larger. I was puzzled by the noise but never got an answer to that mystery. So far, it’s only happened once.
On another occasion, I was taking the garbage out to the road when I noticed an unusually large paw print at the end of the driveway, in the accumulated dirt and runoff where the asphalt ends.
My dad taught my brother and me about animal tracks, so I knew it was canine. However, I was puzzled by its size because people don’t generally let their dogs run loose around here, and the print was too large for a fox or coyote. There was only one track.
We eventually decided to install security cameras. We now have four in total.
Our decision came after a man showed up at our front door at around 8 p.m. holding a gas can. His car was parked along the side of the road in front of our house. It was early winter, and it was already dark. I was out of the room but returned after hearing him knock on the door.
I asked my husband if someone had knocked, and he confirmed that someone had. He also told me the man had tried the doorknob before knocking.
This time, Lucky was acting as though she wanted to rip him to pieces. I found that odd because she doesn’t usually sound that aggressive when alerting us to something, even though she alerts us to almost everything. She also loves people, so I wondered if she sensed that he was up to no good.
We didn’t answer the door. He returned to his car and drove away. There’s a BP gas station about 0.9 miles up the road at the corner, so either he didn’t really need gas, moved on to another house, or eventually made it to the gas station.
While my husband was in the hospital, our front yard security camera went down.
I was home alone with our dog, a Pit Bull/Boxer mix. She’s a wonderful alert dog and weighs about 65 pounds. I’ve never seen her act aggressively toward anyone except during that one incident with the man who tried to open our front door. She’s an empathetic dog and seems good at sensing things I can’t.
One night, she and I were in the bedroom, and I was already in bed when someone or something tapped on the bedroom window again. Since I’d been spending so much time at the hospital and was completely exhausted, I don’t remember counting the taps that night, but Lucky was my witness.
She looked at me, I looked at her, and then we both looked toward the closed window blinds. However, she never barked, which I found a bit odd. Once again, I didn’t feel the need to investigate, but it was a long time before I finally fell asleep that night.
I’ve had two other incidents that aren’t necessarily indicative of Dog Man, but they’re interesting nonetheless.
The first was a sighting of a black panther. This happened not long after we moved to the area. I was in Genesee County, but nowhere near our house.
I’d gotten lost in the countryside among the farms and woodlands. As I was driving along a country road, a large black panther crossed the road about 70 yards in front of me.
It was early afternoon on a sunny day, and I saw it clearly.
My mind was struggling to process what my eyes had just seen. I knew it wasn’t supposed to be there. By the time I reached the spot where it had crossed, it had disappeared into the undergrowth along the edge of the woods.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) eventually had to acknowledge that cougars are present in Michigan, but they continue to deny that black panthers are found in the state.
The second incident occurred this spring, one night after 11 p.m., when I took the dogs outside.
I heard a tree knock. I know that’s what it was because I’ve listened to recordings of tree knocks on YouTube. I was too shocked to try to answer it, and I didn’t want to disturb the neighbors on the other side of the house.
So, those are our experiences in Genesee County to date.
When I lived in Battle Creek, I also had paranormal experiences inside houses, as well as one in a side yard. I can share those stories if you’re interested.
My mom and her sister played with a Ouija board and invited supernatural things into our lives. Afterward, those things seemed to follow me, my brother, and, to some extent, our cousins during their younger years. I haven’t asked my cousins about their adult experiences because we aren’t as close anymore.
I really enjoy your podcasts and discovered them through watching the @theconfessionalspodcast YouTube channel. What a wealth of information you gentlemen offer! Thank you!
You’ve helped solve some of my mysteries, and I doubt I’ll be wanting to take the garbage out after dark anymore!
Keep educating us. It’s desperately needed!”

There is nothing good that comes from a Ouija board.
