The Boggy Creek Monster

For more than a century, reports of a strange beast known as the Fouke Monster have circulated among the locals in southern Arkansas. Described as a large, hairy man-like creature, it’s said to haunt the vast Sulphur River Bottoms as it travels the secluded waterway known as Boggy Creek.

Over the years, the creature has been seen by numerous witnesses including respected citizens, experienced hunters, famous musicians, and even a police officer. The encounters were often so shocking, they served as inspiration for the classic horror film, The Legend of Boggy Creek, by Charles B. Pierce.

My little brother and I went to Fouke, and Boggy Creek itself, twice in the early 80s. We hoped to run across the creature (we thought we wanted to, anyway). We tromped through the swamp, got our car stuck in the mud, and had to have it winched out. It was pretty scary to be stuck there! On the second trip, we’d intended to camp on the very edge of the swamp. We set up our tent, but lost our nerve as it got dark, and the swamp sounds began picking up in intensity. We packed it up and drove to the Holiday Inn in Texarkana. We wimped out!

Omg thank fully u made it out but how scary. My dads and his family were from Arkansas. I grew up in Southern California but heard them say as it was getting dark. “You better get in the house or the buger might get you” I never knew what they were talking about. My dad lived there when he died there by fort smith . He had hound dogs he took coon hunting . We seemed to always have a deer hanging in our garage.
Anyway I would not want to get stuck out there.

I live in Bossier City Louisiana and my then husband and I went up Fouke Arkansas to hunt for the boggy creek monster we searched around but never did Finding I ended up working for Charles Pierce and his production company and I thoroughly believe all the stories that I’ve heard. These creatures are everywhere the Native Americans have seen them for years don’t doubt!
