Prehistoric Europeans: The First Native Americans

The Solutrean hypothesis on the peopling of the Americas claims that the earliest human migration to the Americas took place from Europe during the Last Glacial Maximum. This hypothesis contrasts with the mainstream view that the North American continent was first reached after the Last Glacial Maximum, by people from North Asia, either by the Bering land bridge (i.e. Beringia), or by maritime travel along the Pacific coast, or by both.

What is with you Wes? Our people were clearly here and living a life that has been proven by our ancients bones of the Pleistocene era.
The La Brea Tar pits museum had an ancient skeleton of a a woman who was found along with saber tooth tiger skeletons. Her skeleton was in that museum in Los Angeles until it was removed by her descendants, the Chumash. The bones were so old, by the way. the pleistocene lasted for 56 million years to 11,700 to 12,000 years ago. There are many mamoths whose bones were found with spearheads and lance marks.
In 1970, my schools field trip was to the State Indian Museum in Sacramento CA As a child in 4th grade, everyone in the class was expected to enjoy the display of a skeleton of one of my ancestors in which the museum said, and I quote,” these are the bones of a medicine man.” I would raise my hand and ask my teacher why my ancestors bones are in a display? I know my grand parents would find this very disrespectful. I am a direct descendant of the first peoples of Sacramento, the Nisenan Maidu, in which we were slaughtered because of the greedy gold rush miners &bounty hunters, not given the dignity of being human, no protection from any government and desire to steal our home(land greed). You would think there were no people living in North America. And Wes, that is why anthropologists claim no one lived here. The United States does not want to owe us anything. But one thing the US gov does give us back. IS THE BONES.
They put the Maidu medicine man back in the warehouse, they put the Chumash woman back in storage and they put the Native American Kennewick man back with his people===in storage. However he was tested with modern techniques and was found to be of native origin. Just because the bones, by opinion looked like a white mans skull is ridiculous. Any skull could bare the resemblance to Patrick Steward…..sorry patrick. The Kennewick man was only 9,000 years old.
La Brea Museum dated the Chumash woman to be over 10,000 years. The Lovelock Cave in Nevada had tule ducks and large moccasines that are known as the oldest artifacts dated ca 400 BC-AD100. And those facts are with a culture already preceding. It took thousands of years to create language, created the technology of atlatals , lances and fine tip arrow heads. Medicine and food are also another technological advancement of the culture which is not being considered in our evolution. A plant being used today is new to you and all who watch commercials on TV, but it is a plant we have used before your people realized its importance. You may remember blue elderberry? We have ancient songs and instruments because of it.
Comes down to this, i cherish the ceremonies when my people would sit up at night, all night and sing, play games and share stories.
Some stories did include Bigfoot(Kombu in our language). Thats why I love to listen to your podcast. I have been a member for a long time. But what you posted above is not an opinion. We have been here, We are the first people here. We know this land, plants, fire, clean water, and how to work with it. Teaching is important if it is done correctly, and with discipline. Make medicine wrong and it can become poison. If you don’t tend the plants correctly, they can grow out of control. If you do a control burn wrong, you have a forest fire. If you teach without substance, it doesn’t mean anything.
