North American Bigfoot Center is a Sasquatch museum in Boring, Oregon, about 25–30 miles east of Portland on the way toward Mount Hood. It opened in 2019 and was founded by Cliff Barackman, a longtime Bigfoot researcher and former co-host/analyst on Finding Bigfoot.
What you’ll see
The museum is much more than a collection of Bigfoot statues. The exhibit halls contain:
- Footprint and handprint casts evidence.
- Historical artifacts, photographs, documents, and reports of sightings.
- Short documentaries and films in a small theater.
- Interactive exhibits dealing with Bigfoot sounds, anatomy, tracking, and encounters.
- “Murphy,” an approximately 8-foot-tall life size Sasquatch replica, which is a popular photo spot.
- Some wonderfully weird pieces of evidence including unusual body impressions and other artifacts.
The center also has a gift shop with books, clothing, toys, stickers, footprint casts, artwork, and other Bigfoot/cryptid merchandise.
In this video from the North American Bigfoot Center, Cliff Barackman takes his wife, Melissa, on his version of a romantic date: heading into the woods to relocate and cast a Sasquatch footprint.
There’s some hiking, a little swamp slogging (Cliff enjoys that part more than Melissa does), and Melissa gets to make her first-ever plaster cast of a possible Sasquatch footprint, with Cliff there to applaud her through the process.
Flowers and a nice dinner might be more traditional, but apparently footprint casting is Cliff’s love language. Fortunately, Melissa loves him anyway.
