Welcome!  I’m not familiar with NW OH, but was born and raised in NE OH.  Your area is a lot more flat, less trees, and used for farming.  However, did you know the majority of NW OH was part of major swamp.  Unfortunately, the early settlers drained it.  </p>

Not as familiar with the west coast.  But if you’re looking in KY, I’d recommend the eastern half in or near the mountains. All along the Appalachian mountain chain would be suitable. At this point, I haven’t used any software.  Usually, I tread through an hour at a time the old fashion way.  After finding something interesting, I cut it down to file.<br />
However, I finally rigged up my waterproof recorder box to last 30 nights.  So I’ll be learning how to use Audacity hopefully sooner than later.</p>
