Just recently became a listener. I have never heard of Dogman before listening to your shows, but you’ve settled (somewhat) a long time confusing experience.

Several years ago, 2015ish, I was returning from an EMS call. I had been out to the far end of Manila Creek Rd (in Poca, WV) which I had to go through the Amherst wilderness area, returning about 2 am I slowed down as I saw something large coming down off the hillside to my right headed toward the creek on the other side of the road.

Big deer are a constant concern around here, so that was my first thought. When it came into the headlights my first thought was that it was a wolf…which aren’t around here…because it was way too big to be a dog.

As I passed, it sat down on its haunches, sitting just like a dog, but what struck me was the sheer size. I was eye level with this thing while sitting in the drivers seat of the truck, and it looked absolutely terrifying. Black, mangy looking hair but strong build. Narrow chest, pointed ears. Thinking about it still raises the hair on my arms. It snarled at me, watching as I drove past, definitely had a long snout, and I made eye contact with it as I passed. Like it knew where the drivers seat was, not just looking at the vehicle like a normal animal.

I don’t really know how to explain it other than it had hate in its eyes. I’ve seen predatory animals in the woods before, it wasn’t that type of look, there was no doubt in my mind if I wasn’t in the truck nothing good was going to happen. Almost like it was mad at me for being there.

Stupidly in hindsight haha, I turned around at the first chance to try and get a picture of this thing, and hit the spotlights we have on our rig, but when I came back through the curve nothing was there. Haven’t told anyone other than my wife about that experience, definitely do not like that section of woods anymore.”
