I’ve had a couple experiences near Lake Tawakini in East Texas not far from the Sabine River. My first encounter was in 2018. I was on my way out to David’s (my future husband who has since passed) house for the 1st time.

I was using the GPS on my phone to find my way out there. I knew I was close to his house but I kept losing my cell service and it took me down a gravel road. I was trying to call him but the call kept cutting in-and-out and kept ending the call. I saw a fawn that got caught in my headlights. I waited for it to pass and started driving again when I felt this rumbling. It was this intense vibration that kept getting more and more intense.

The hair stood up on the back of my neck and I knew something was wrong. I didn’t know what was coming towards me but I somehow knew that it was footsteps. I can’t describe what was happening except that I felt it to my core, I felt it in my bones and all of a sudden a massive hairy figure ran past the passenger side of my car.

I didn’t get a very good look because it was so dark and it happened so quickly. I just saw saw something that was tall, dark colored and I could see that it was hair. I think it was hunting that fawn that I had just seen. I turned around and got off that road as quickly as I could. I finally got ahold of David and he could tell that I was terrified.

He gave me the right directions to get to his house and I told him what had happened. He told me that something had happened a few years prior to that. Something knocked his trailer off of its blocks. He said that it sounded like something ran up to the trailer and he heard a banging sound up high near the roof you’re the roof and the whole trailer fell. He immediately went outside but didn’t say anything. After a year or so I made I’ve married him and moved in out there. We had a few strange occurrences while I was there. I can’t say that this was sasquatch but but one night after we had gone fishing David had put the catfish we caught in his minow tank on the porch. The next morning 6 of the 12 fish that we had in there were gone.

We lived in a small community of mostly elderly people and it wasn’t somewhere that someone didn’t belong would be. Hearing wood Knox was a regular occurrence out there. There were a few times that we heard would heard whooping kind of howling noises in the distance. We had some woods behind our place this place and I would walk through there to pick up kindling for the fireplace. I can’t tell you how many times I would find large sticks with one end shoved deep in the ground. David’s mom and his sister both claimed to have had closer encounters than I did. His mom saw one crossing the road near his house and his sister said that she saw one sitting in a tree. One night when we had just gotten home from the store a rock hit me in the foot out of nowhere and we had no idea where it came from.

My next encounter if you can call it that it’s stranger than the first. We lived a good 20 minutes from the closest store. I had to go into town for something and when I was on my way back I saw a truck pulled over on the side of the road on the side of the county highway close to our house. As I got closer I could see that there was no one in the pick up and there was a huge mass in the middle of the road by the truck. When I say huge I’m I’m talking the size of a Volkswagen. I had that same feeling I had that night on that gravel road. I passed this massive thing and I saw what I can only describe as dreadlocks. Not braids, but matted, nasty dark hair.

It looked like something was laying in the middle of the road in a fetal position. I didn’t see a face, or hands or feet. Just a giant ball of this matted hair. I was too scared to get out of the car. I drove as fast as I safely could to get away from it. I can’t explain why but I felt like it was somehow a trap. Like it wanted me to get close. I told my husband when I got home. We had to take something to his sisters house but by the time we drove back out it was gone. It had only been maybe 20 minutes since I had seen it. The only other thing I can think of that happened was something that happened with my pitbull. I used to let her off leash there all the time because she would never miss with anybody. She was the sweetest temper dog I’ve ever seen. She loved everyone and other animals and didn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. One night when I let her out to go potty she was behind the house and I was close to her but I was standing in the light and she was in shadow. Out of nowhere she started growling and was fighting with something that I couldn’t see.

David heard the commotion from inside and came running out. She ran to the front of the house and we followed her inside. She didn’t have any cuts or scratches but she but she had bruises. She was sore and had trouble getting around for a couple days. That’s the only fight Shyla had ever been in. I had never heard her growl before that day or since. I don’t know what animal could have done that without biting or scratching her. I know my story isn’t as exciting as most of the stories I hear on your show. I just thought I’d share it with you.”
